De Bruyne?

It's not an easy job to convince someone else that you won't pay anymore when they know you have the financial means to. How do you make people think that, no, seriously THIS is the most you'll pay?

<50m would be a good deal in my eyes, if we get him for less than sterlings 44 then I think Everyone should be happy.

Yeah, there is no value in the market anymore. Sometimes if you want the player, you just have to pay the premium. If he costs 50m, then so be it. We will be getting a quality player in return.

I am not saying he is a bad player, i just said i will not get carried away like some of us on here that think he is going to be the lynchpin of our midfield when all he is, is clearly a squad player to offer us a slightly different option in midfield.

The reason i prefer Barry as i have said, is because he was a much more intelligent footballer. Better passer, better shielder/protector of the ball, more maturity in his play, more tactical awareness on the field... Delph is a slightly different player who plays on adrenaline. Not a dictator or controller of a game, but a more high octane player who offers more pace and energy within the midfield. City tend to have the ball a lot more than other sides so it will be interesting to see if that kind of player will fit in our side. He will have to play a more patient game with us than he did at Villa, a more disciplined role.

But Barry would be a total liability in this team due to the high line and expansive game we play. Gareth Barry could not play in this team, he just did not have the legs. The only reason Barry was able to the way he did was because of the systems he played in. He would be useless in our current system.
Yaya is out linchpin, Delph has been bought to compliment Yaya in the big games imo.

My apologies for going off thread, there were just some posts that I generally disagreed with.

The only way to do it is to take your time, look ponderous, like you are really questioning whether to go that high etc. that's what takes the time in my opinion. It was reported that Wolfsburg aren't giving us a definitive asking price to try and work against, which makes it even harder.

You have to sacrifice some players to do that - by being prepared to walk away - and the moment we do that, the fans will be up in arms saying 'why didn't we just pay the extra, we can afford it'. The only way we can enhance our reputation for being stalwart in deals is by being prepared to walk. But are we (club and fans) really prepared to do that?
Also, it's a total myth that we have unlimited funds, and I think some other clubs possibly over estimate how much we have to play with. Wolfsburg can easily think 50m is no great problem for us (which it isn't in isolation), but as part of a whole summer packager involving other high value targets, it CAN be an issue, and of course, they want us to sacrifice other deals in order to spend more on their own transfer).

This is where Txiki's on a hiding to nothing:

1) Some players won't want to come - nothing we can do.
2) Some players will be reluctant and need to be persuaded (usually money) - but that's not a good sign for an expensive buy, and it usually means they are costing more than they should, which has knock on effects on other deals.
3) Half the fans are wanting a big name players
4) The other half are demanding we're not taken advantage of and need to tell other clubs to sod off if they're taking us for a ride.
5) Precisely the same is happening with outgoing players, where half the fans want rid at any cost, and the other half want to hold out for what WE think the true value is.

Whatever he (or City) does, someone's not going to like it.

We're debating the subject, you're criticising the posters. Huge difference.
I'm not really looking at the names of the posters, just at the arguments they're putting forwards, you're doing precisely the opposite and making wild assumptions based on who is posting - people you neither know, nor choose to read impartially.
Once you start slagging off the posters and not their points - all is lost.

I'm just sick and tired of people like YOU moaning all the fucking time.

Well I for one don't like that.

Let us all know when you're contributing to the football discussion. You're the one moaning more than most and contributing nothing to the actual discussion.
If you're having trouble with other posters, exercise self control and ignore their posts, or put them on ignore.
Getting wound up by other people is a measure of your own control, not theirs. You are after all responsible for your own emotions right?
That's 3 or 4 posters that seem to wind you up now. There's a common denominator, you.
