You mean not making a massive public show of us making an offer and them rejecting it?
The only time you see that is when clubs are politicking - see liverpool re Sterling.
Most business is done privately, hence why Everton are so pissed off with Chelsea about Stones - they told him he wasn't for sale, and then Chelsea made public their bids, to try and generate some public discussion and turn the kid's head.
Everton are in no position to moan about this though. Who can forget the Lescott saga where we made bids through the proper channels and did so discretely and between the clubs. Everton played it out in the media to firstly turn us into the bad guys and secondly to get the best price possible. Hypocrisy of the highest order from our scouse friends.
