De Bruyne?

I'm sure things will start moving on this now Jovetic is out of the door. I reckon an offer will be submitted in the next 48 hours.

I´m pretty confident. No threat from Wolfsburg at all. No "he is not for sale" "we are not interested in offers" "he will stay with us for 100%" "clubs don`t need to call us" etc.

Very confident.

If it is true that we have given up on Pogba financing the De Bruyne deal should not be a problem. There should be 70+ million originally earmarked for Pogba available.

Sign older players with proven quality - Should be signing younger players with potential

Sign cheap potential - Should be signing proven quality regardless of cost.

Signing proven quality regardless of cost - We spent too much, the rags in the pub are going to take the piss.

Personally I've come to terms with the fact that clearly Abu Dhabi want the best value they can get both for outgoing players and incoming players. It's clear from Pellegrini's comments too that we aren't arsed about when deals get done between now and Sept 1st - which also means that the technical staff feel comfortable enough with the players we already have for the first 4 games of the season.

I realise that it's frustrating but I think the ownership are entitled to deal with things in this manner. They've been battered for overspending, yet every time they go to buy a player they get quoted outlandish prices and every time they try and sell a player the buying club wants to pay with peanuts in instalments.
So are you saying Sheikh Mansour is worried about the local rags taking the piss out of him when he goes to the pub on a night?

Hopefully a deal is struck soon. Would love to see him in the squad for matchday 1!

We've only got 12 days until we play West Brom, and any deal for De Bruyne is still, at best, several days off I suspect (if, in fact, any deal ends up materialising). The odds of him being thrust into the matchday squad for that first match are very, very slim indeed.

Given Pellegrini's comments about players being unavailable for the West Brom game (Delph, Demichelis, Zabaleta, Fernandinho, Aguero) we may be a bit thin on the ground for that match. Still, an opportunity possibly for someone who has impressed in pre-season to find themselves on the bench I suppose.

It's in the stars a winning debut v Chelsea infront of a half full 3rd tier.

Clearly not. I hope your post was an attempt at humour.

Whilst Sheikh Mansour will not give the tiniest of tiny shits how much merriment his spending brings United fans in the pub, what he will care about is how much his, and City's, reputation is damaged by the impression we're throwing huge sums of money around without any real care. We clearly aren't doing that either, and there's obviously a plan behind what we're doing, however the media has a bias towards depicting City as some playboys toy, spending cash without any planning or sense. As false as this impression is it's what's being fed to the masses and it reflects poorly on our owner, on our club and, more importantly to the Sheikh, by association on Abu Dhabi. He'll be wanting to do everything he can to mitigate this issue, and if that means prolonged negotiations with clubs over sensible prices, both for purchases and sales, then that's just something we, as fans, are going to have to come to terms with.

He's quite good at handing it back out I've heard.

NDR sport confirm (as they cited "Het Laatste Nieuws" ("HLN"), a belgian newspaper as a source) that looks like a bid is coming as KDB is fueling the speculations and showing some doubts about his future...

"Manchester City should be willing to pay a transfer fee 70-84 million euros for the World Cup participants to the Niedersachsen. The British want De Bruyne thus lure with a five-year contract in the Premier League." ("HLN")

"I have good participated in the pre season till now, and I feel comfortable here. It's about a lot of money (possible City offer), but in the end I just want to play football" (KDB)

Hi Matty......I agree mate....I find it frustrating that, we already know we going to be thin for the start of the season but we dont "seem" to be showing any urgency to get these deals done.....It seems like Wolfsburg have been waiting weeks for us to make a bid!.....I agree its difficult to put a time scale on negotiations but we havent even come to the table with an official bid yet?!....oh well, fingers crossed something happens soon!;)

That's probably what everyone is hoping to be honest. However I suspect there's more chance of Lord Lucan riding Shergar to victory in the 2016 Grand National.
Never going to happen. Shergar was a flat horse

You think City are just tossing it off, sitting around not doing anything? That nobody is arsed how quickly this deal happens?
