De Bruyne?

It's not like the Sterling transfer, where bids were leaked to the press and formally rejected. We're negotiating with Wolfsburg privately, and obviously they want to secure the best fee possible so it takes time. I think he'll be a City player by this time next week though.

That gut instinct or itk Ric

All i read into that article was that Wolfsburg are trying to assert their 'ownership' and basically stating even if you have an agreement with the player/agent, it's up to us if he goes. And the agent trying to speed shit along.

I think it actually would mean that neither Zucculini or Kelechi could play in the champs league. There's a thread in the Bluemoon forum that covers the variables. However Neville Kneville pointed out that in the PL squad, Zucculini counts as under 21 so doesn't need to be registered so he wouldn't take a spot.
I'll need to read that thread. So to get 1 player in we need to get rid of 2. But to get another player in, we wouldn't have to get rid of another. Doesn't quite make sense - I'll have a look at the other thread.

Sorry for stupid question.....Why would his agent leave our name out if we were interested?...adding our name to the list would push bidding higher, so no reason not to mention us???

DeBruyne's agent on interest: "Don't have to mention the names, everybody knows it's PSG & Bayern." MCFC oddly left out. via @gustav_tornby
He said " other clubs". That means other than City.
He's just trying to push the price up.

On a more positive note at least if we do sign KDB we would not have to worry about him or his agent mouthing off. They seem like very decent people which is refreshing these days!

It depends on where they play. If we don't get Pogba/alternative we may be light in midfield so Zucculini, could be registered in the CL squad as one of the 17 free/foreign spots. But in the PL Zucculini doesn't take up a spot. I think it's the same with Kelechi. In all honesty, it confuses the fuck out of me.

Just in time for Chelsea :)
Imagine that, that's the stuff legends are made of lol. Him coming in in the last 15 min when the team is down 2 goals, only to give an assist and then the winning goal. The media would never get enough of it.

But seems quite unlikely though :)

It's just his agent further cementing De Bruyne's place with Wolfsburg fans. Let them know it's up to the club but Kevin is happy to play there. They will know that if Wolfsburg accept they'll move but it's better for Kevin's reputation to play it this way. We saw with Sterling the other side of the coin, where Liverpool were happy to discuss a private contract dispute publicly and make Sterling seem like a money grabber. His agent felt it was then appropriate to slate Liverpool and tell the world his client wanted to leave.

100% confident he will be a City player by the end of August, he's obviously not staying at Wolfsburg or he would have signed the contract the club proposed him, Psg's got di Maria, and Bayern well... there is no way that Wolfsburg will sell their best player to them. We are the only team at the table and obviously trying to lower the price, but we can already print his name on a number 14 shirt

All smoke and mirrors from Wolfsburg and de Koster methinks. There's been nothing in the German press to indicate Bayern are seriously interested and PSG have Di Maria. I go along with Rics assessment that we are already negotiating and its just down to the fee.

Okay makes sense. But where do these reports come from that worlfsburg want 50m£? if that is their price than it would be weird if they would reject it. And if city don't want to pay the 50m£ I also don't see why wolfsburg would lower their price. But I guess negotiating a deal is more complex than that. So we'll just have to be patient

for the life of me I cannot understand why we haven't even put a bid in even to test the water, like Sterling we seem to be in a one horse race would this be so drawn out if we had competition for him? if anything the worth of De Bruyne has now been upped a good few million by him winning Germanys player of the year if KDB is our prime target it begs the question WHAT FFS ARE WE WAITING FOR

I get that we want to get the price down, and I've no doubt that we will get him, so I'm not fretting.

I think, we would have wanted him in by now. Ric's (pretty spot on this summer) info, seemed to intimate it was pretty close a couple of weeks back. KDB is making positive noises now, as well.

Get that we want a good price, comfortable we'll get him, a little surprised that we haven't managed to achieve that as of yet. That's all.

I know, Dan. Of course we all want it done soon. But there will be damn good reasons (my guess is £10m+ of 'em!) why it hasn't yet.

Actually that may be correct.

After the fiasco where LFC were apparently leaking the bid progress etc. maybe an NDA on the progress is operating.
City needing certain players sold before he can be bought and potential Uefa interest (to prevent complex rule infringement) may have needed the precaution of an NDA for the bargaining process.

WFC could still say no bid made and City keep silent.
