De Bruyne?

I can't imagine what the hold up is. Surely if he's going to sign it would've happened by now.

The defence last year was far from poor.

Believe it, with a front 4 of Sterling/Aguero/De Bruyne and silva, we will be scoring plenty of goals.

That should offset the worry about those 4 extra we concede over Chelsea.

We need to get this done now, no team in the league is going to want to face that front 4.

It's fucking scary.

I think it's clear De Bruyne wants to leave Wolfsburg on good terms.

Unlike Sterling, who didn't care about his relationship with Liverpool, he just wanted to come here.

It does look like De Bruyne wants to come and the issue seems to be the fee. If Wolfsburg want £50 million, then pay it. Don't haggle over a few million with a top player like this. We made that mistake with Hazard, let's not make it again.

Twat but still giggling

We've been juggling a fair few balls in the air recently - Jovetic and Dzeko out, Pogba and KdB in, and we've most likely had to hold back on rushing into anything until things became clearly on all four fronts. Two players have now left which makes things a lot clearer, and if suggestions that the Pogba deal is all but over are correct, then that would leave City with a very clear view on KdB, thus I'd expect serious activity imminently.

Remember that the worst case scenario was that we ended up stuck with Jovetic and Dzeko, and possibly overspending on Pogba and KdB, then ending up in FFP trouble as a result. City can't afford for that to happen. For all we know, they might still be looking at other signings too?

I agree mate....I'm still positive De Bruyne deal can get done....I'm completely confused why we havent made a bid but just hoping, as you have said...it arrives imminently now that Pogba is looking less likely! Think it would be a surprise if we allowed ourselves to miss out on Pogba and De Bruyne after setting our expectations so high at the start of the window...

People flapping around asking "why haven't we bid yet"? Why do we need to bid, officially, in public, for all to see. Surely the best way to deal with this, or any transfer, certainly if you're the buying club, is to get round a table and discuss a potential deal. City say "we're willing to put together a package worth £35m, when add ons etc are considered", Wolfsburg say "You'll have to do better than that, we're looking for a deal worth £50m", then City go away, discuss things, and come back with an improved position of £40m. Wolfsburg say it's still not good enough, City go away to discuss some more. And so on, and so on, over weeks of discussions, until we either reach a mutually beneficial agreement, or an impasse.

Quite why people expect us to call a press conference, or proclaim to a journalist "we've offered £35m for De Bruyne" is beyond me. These things only really hit the press when one of the parties involved leaks details. If City and Wolfsburg feel this is best done behind closed doors then the first we'll hear of this is when a conclusion, one way or the other, has been reached. This isn't a deal with Liverpool involved, who saw a benefit to destroying Sterling's reputation, and to putting us under pressure to bid more and more money.

good post. my only issue though is, we are not the only ones who CAN sign de bruyne and we run the risk of missing out if we are too frugal and/or indecisive given that he's Assist-King in Europe and one of the most sought after players in Europe. if the price was going to come down, maybe that should have happened by now. Not flapping but we had better get this right. most of us were upbeat about pogba coming all summer only to hear news today that makes it a little unlikely so you can choose to stay positive but it would help to add some objectivity to your positivity.....cheers

I think we've avoided making a bid until we knew what money we had available after the Jovetic and Dzeko deals plus any Pogba deal. If we'd rushed in an offered (say) 50m, then only got 10m each for Jovetic and Dzeko (or not managed to sell them at all), then we might have been a bit short of any Pogba deal, or vice versa. I don't know what our financial limits are, but I'm sure we've wanted to offload some players before we commit to any more BIG spends, and Pogba and KdB combined must be a financial juggling act. If Pogba's out the equation now, that SHOULD make KdB more viable *fingers crossed*

There's been no-one else in particular rumoured to be interested in De Bruyne, certainly not to any great degree. Plus, even if there was, they'd need to be able to pay a fairly sizeable asking price, and cover his wages/bonuses which will be pretty big too. There's a very, very small list of clubs that would, financially, be able to do that, and they'd also have to convince De Bruyne to join them. No-one is going to gazump us, as it would be in the players, and Wolfsburg's, best interests to inform us of any other interest, as it would drive the price up. It's guesswork, and supposition, however I'd suggest if no-one has come forward with an interest as yet that we're pretty safe on that front.

Last 6 games of last season; P6 W6, score 18 goals, conceded 4. Not bad. As a comparison the most goals scored after us was 12. The fewest conceded was 3 (by Burnley).

When we get the system right we're better defensively. Kompany's absence was actually a blessing for us defensively, we looked a lot more confident at the back.

Forget the KDB shit for a sec, you're telling me Burnley only conceded 3 in the last 6 games of the prem?? Some going that

Juggling a fair few balls are we the Katie Price of the football world
