he just doesnt fit in the team anymore imo

Bobby Manc seems to disagree with you. Perhaps he should be sacked.

AND THE BOARD

Fuck me am i in N.Korea as it doesnt seem like i can have an opinion
I would say we played like Man City last season last night in terms of set up so yes he did fit in. Looked pretty planted to the bench in the derby though got the CC game but not the prem game last week.

Re: De Jong last night..

I dont think anyone can criticise De Jong for slowing our fluidity and play, and then praise Yaya for it.

Yaya slows it down just as much, but both played excellent last night

Of course you can have an opinion. Doesn't mean we have to agree with it. Or Bobby, for that matter.

Its because Yaya goes forwards with the ball. De Jo0ng goes backwards even when he is clear 10 yards each way

I dont see it like that at all - at times Yaya is the only playing speeding us up. Yes he plays at two different speeds but that allows him to shift up through the gears and power past players, something De Jong isnt capable of (yes I know he isnt in the team for that)

Personally, I think De Jong would no longer be the managers first choice eleven for a big game, he has gone from a first choice to a sqaud player and it isnt anything to do with him but more a change in approach and personel.

I reckon he might go at the end of the season.

You're not a fan of his, are you?

Re: De Jong last night..

to the people on this thread who are saying he doesn't fit in the team anymore, we have a much greater chance of keeping a clean sheet whilst he plays.

in case you didn't realize, last night was the first one for a while.
we have enough going forward to score goals, even with de jong.

Re: De Jong last night..

Shocking first 20 but improved a lot after that. There have been a few too many instances of us losing the ball, the opposition breaking with only nige in front of the defence, but Nige being so far behind the rest of the team he lunges in and the opposition player on the ball just shows a little dummy and leaves him for dead. This happened once noticeably last night and a few times aganist wolves in the cup.

Then there was a moment in the second half when we broke and he had acres with runners but didn't have the pace or the skill/intelligenceto keep the move flowing and hurt them. Instead he slowed it right down, their players got back and he passed it sideways

Early days and I've always thought very highly of nige but he's looking extremely limited and unless he ups his game then it looks like all of a sudden the team might well outgrown him. People say he'll have his uses in the big games and I agree that we missed him away to Bayern. But we did fine without him away at spurs and the swamp, so you have to wonder just how many matches a season he'll really be of any use to us?

Comparing Yaya to de Jong is ridiculous. Yaya offers so, so much more than Nige - Goals, assists, the ability to beat a man, pace, mobility, intricate passing, quick thinking. What does Nige offer over Yaya? Theres a reason Yaya can play centre mid, defensive mid, attacking mid and centre half whereas Nige can only play defensive mid.

He does a good job at what he does, its just we don't need it so much now and the way we set up he doesn't fit in. Mancini seems to want Yaya and Barry in the middle
De Jong will get games but he is by no means a guaranteed starter now

Good post. People have told me on numerous occasions that he can offer more going forward so its time we see it.
