Well on his way back to full fitness and sharpness, kept hold of the ball and got his foot in, some good challenges, played well
Agreed, however quite a few of the passes were backwards. He kept possession well but does not instigate many attacks. Some superbly timed slide tackles.

Re: De Jong last night..

To be expected.

A lot of very good tackles, a high pass completion rate and he slowed the play down.

Didn't watch the game as i was at a concert, but how did he do?

Is heback to his usual self or is he still lacking fitness?

"still" lacking fitness? In your opinion of couse but I wouldnt agree he was lacking fitness at all. Looked fine as he did in the last game he had played and played well again.

Re: De Jong last night..

Some good tackles. Usual sideways and backwards passing. Always seems to stop the flow and fluidity of our game imo. Not needed last night really against a very weak VR.

What annoys me most is when he stands between the two CBs, demands the ball and then plays an easy ball out to the full backs. Compare this to Yaya and Barry who demand it 10 yards further up the pitch and are prepared to turn on the ball and play it anywhere. With De Jong it's too predictable.
