After last weeks ridiculous "I don't want De Jong in the team" thread - can we now have some appreciation of what he brings to the team.
Last night he played the dual role of a Defensive/Attacking midfielder. Supporting in attack and back to cover their threat.
The scapegoat myth of "he always plays it sideways was well an truly put to bed" some great forward balls to feet and for wingers to run onto.
The tackiling and snuffing out of their build up play and attacks immense as usual.

Once again he did exactly what he was there for. A superb player, the only shame is on the idiots who don't fully understand football and seem to think he should be weighing in with 10 goals a season.

Manchester. Always will be.
Most people would have him in the team against Liverpool.

The argument a lot of people have is that he isnt required at home against the likes of Wigan, Sunderland, Fulham, Blackpool etc etc

He always shines against the big teams, then when we play a lesser team he just seems to carry on doing his job unnoticed

Yeah - now there is more back tracking than an italian tank - apparently now - "we need him for the big games but not against the Wigans and Blackburns."

How is it back tracking. Maybe you should back track to the original thread

-- Tue Aug 24, 2010 10:50 am --

So the likes of Milner, Toure and Barry can't handle Blackburn - they are too weak? Not at all, they can offer something going forward and in defence

I could have played defensive midfielder last night

Don't take it so personally - not everyone was even making the poor distinction between bigger and lesser teams last week - a few just wanted him out

Somewhere hidden in Guy Garveys' beard....
That was De Jong at his best, terrier like, keeping it simple and running his bollocks off.

Made me laugh with crowd shouting 'SHOOOOOOT' when he got the ball near th'edge of the box in the first half. I'm sure we all meant 'don't fuckin shoot !'

Well done Nigel, keep it going.
