OK Go on Fifa/Football Manager and check their pace stats.

How to lose credibility in one easy sentence.

I don't see how - they will be completely impartial and will look at their pace.

Either you are retarded or the best comedian since Peter Kay and should be selling out arenas

We clearly have different opinions - and we are all entitled to our own opinions so I will never pursue this argument again as it seems to aggravate everyone.

But the proof will be in what Mancini thinks.

You must be a vegetarian. Only vegetarians negatively stereotype entire populations in a tidy and negative way without bothering to consider if some people might find that condescending.

I must say you're pretty spot on with this.

89.8% - Nigel de Jong has completed the highest proportion of passes of any regular player in the PL this season.

Cue the "but they are all easy, unimaginative passes" from the usual suspects.

Can you just explain that -

FM has scouts that look at the stats of players. They have no reason to lie or be biased.

Especially speed which is pretty much an unsubjective stat.

Strength I can't provide stats, but I rarely see him go shoulder to shoulder and shit all ove rpeople in the way that Yaya does (but also look at his body it is not that strong).

In terms of tackles I can provide stats ;)

1) This season De Jong made 77 tackles. Lucas made 111 Parker 93, Song 79 (A player who he is believed to be considerably better than).

2) The season before, Mascherano made about 180 tackles and completed more passes than anyone else (if you want to be a sole DM these are the stats you need). De Jong made 60

cant believe im going to reply to this guy... i saw the thread title and thought.. its going to be a sabster versus bluemoon thread.. with him arselicking every other player that plays this position.

firstly out of the above mentioned... how many of them played it with another defensive midfield partnership a la de jong and barry. whose sole roles where to defend the back 4.

also out of them how many where included in a defensive set up? which will obviously mean the defensive duties are shared.. therefore... one man is not required to do all the breaking down... the amount of times this year a attack has broken down due to our lack of pace... and they have countered and either barry or de jong... has broken up there play is ridiculous. and with yaya working back as well. its very rare you see teams attack through the middle of pitch against us... because of this midfield 3.

you bring in these "stats" but when someone mentions the points when he was playing and when he wasnt playing stat, you say will balotelli had better... and just brush aside the stat! failing to see difference that the stat showed.

Claude Makelele the guy the role is now named after pretty much... only made 97 tackles on season so Lucas is better than him!

A stat that looks at 4 games is not a reasonable stat.

fancy answering the rest of the post?

how do you answer the makelele stat?

Again that isn't proof is it? If Mancini does sell him (which I don't think he will) it will not change my opinion of him.

goodnight chaps

Stats mean absolutely fuck all. Going off stats Henderson is better than Modric right? Going off stats, Malouda is the best player in the Premiership yes?

You talk absolute crap. Statistics can be manipulated in any way you want them to be. Oh, look Parker made the most tackles, thats because he had to make the most tackles because he plays for a crapper team who wont have the ball as much as us.
But Song plays for a team with more possession than us and still made more tackles. Care to give an explanation for that? Feel free to plead the 5th :)

Dax, I can see your point about people being entitled to a different opinion to the masses. But that only stretches so far.
If I saw a mate's newborn baby my opinion may be that the nipper is freakishly ugly....but if I said so surely that would cause upset and offence from the parent.

The same kinda thing applies here. NDJ has become so much more than a City player to us. He is our kith and kin.
So whilst someone is entitled to say he is on a par with Carrick...that's like saying my mum is as attractive as Pat Butcher.
Its an insult basically. Can you not see this?
Ah! May I start by saying I think he is far superior to Carrick!!

But going by your analogy, I am family too. Thus, if my mum has a new baby and I a 7 year old brother spat out, "damn! mum, Junior is ugly!" I doubt the angst against me will be similar to that of a stranger saying the same thing.

As a part of the family, I should get some leeway, no? I mean I will shut down my liverpool friends if they claimed Ade or Jo or RSC sucked. I'll do so coz they are not a part of the City family and they don't mean us well. But when City fans discuss City players, I expect the inherent belief that deep down we al seek the same thing, a successful City, to be paramount, and thus carry some leeway in discussing candidly how we view a player. Even if those opinions differ.

Havent read every post in the thread Dax but it does appear that you're defending a poster who probably shouldnt be allowed out unaccompanied for fear of him starting an arguement with himself in a shop window.
But point duly taken bud.
