He had very little impact for us last season.

Absolute tosh!

He was key to our sucess at the end of last season, and was involved in may of the key goals in the final games.

Nigel, was the last peice of the jigsaw, ad often the 'attackig substitution' that allowed us to chase games we were behind in, and move to a more attacking formation and/or push Yaya forward.

Nigel's key 3 attributes are-
1) He finds space and is available to collect the ball from defensive positions.
2) He passes the ball quickly, usually first time, (far quicker than anybody else in the defensive / defensive midfield unit), so tiring teams can not regroup.
3) He passes the ball accuratey.

This is so important to the way we played towards the end of last season, and something nobody else in the squad is capable of doing.

Also, many times he made one or two tackles that were so full blooded he woke-up our support at times when many had started to not beleive- This importance (Zab does the same!) has also been key when the moaners start to take over the atmosphere when thigs are not going 100% our way!
This is simply false. He was a lot of things. Some arguable. But he wasn't the highlighted above. That was a weakness.

Pretty much all of this. Get rid of De Jong at our own expense. Just because he did not play as much last season, does not make the previous two seasons of 80+ appearances, worthless.

We didn't play him much last year, and still won the title. He is not going to be decisive. We can sell him or keep him. But it is not going to be decisive.

Is it true he's going for talks at Inter tomorrow?

I reckon talks are already happening but also think this deal could easily collapse because of the eternal conflict: City player's wages/demands vs. wage structure/offer of the interested club.

Id like to think we have a replacement almost signed, Barry could be out for a few mths and if Rodwell gets injured we are really short of cover

He still made 30 appearances, and was decisive in many games. Particularly getting Yaya forward.

Today's news on the Italian media, give very close to the purchase of Julio Cesar by the Spurs. This will bring money into the coffers of FCInter, money that will help them to buy DeJong.
