De Jong was unsung today... hand this man a contract

He won't sign a new contract on reasonable money. So I would take the 7 million for him, save his wages rather than pay him for another season and get nothing next summer.

He had very little impact for us last season. We have yaya, Barry, Milner and rodwell who can play there we are hardly short of cover.

Absolute tosh!

He was key to our sucess at the end of last season, and was involved in may of the key goals in the final games.

Nigel, was the last peice of the jigsaw, ad often the 'attackig substitution' that allowed us to chase games we were behind in, and move to a more attacking formation and/or push Yaya forward.

Nigel's key 3 attributes are-
1) He finds space and is available to collect the ball from defensive positions.
2) He passes the ball quickly, usually first time, (far quicker than anybody else in the defensive / defensive midfield unit), so tiring teams can not regroup.
3) He passes the ball accuratey.

This is so important to the way we played towards the end of last season, and something nobody else in the squad is capable of doing.

Also, many times he made one or two tackles that were so full blooded he woke-up our support at times when many had started to not beleive- This importance (Zab does the same!) has also been key when the moaners start to take over the atmosphere when thigs are not going 100% our way!

I thoroughly enjoyed De Jong war like mentality and passion going in to games. If he does go then I'll look very forward to the day he returns to Eastlands and sure he will get a great reception. I'm happy to have him around another season though

Pretty much all of this. Get rid of De Jong at our own expense. Just because he did not play as much last season, does not make the previous two seasons of 80+ appearances, worthless.

He doesen´t pass the ball quickly! He´s overrated imo and he don´t want to sign a new contract. He´s a good player though and very likable but he´s not as good nor as important as some of you suggests(imo).
