It's all about trimming the wage bill while bringing in younger faces. If we don't sell him now he leaves on a free, renew his contract and the wage bill goes up plus he is on the books for his inevitable decline.

So you want to sell him and bring in a replacement, who will then be on similar wages if not more...? De Jong literally turned 27 a month ago, he has 5+ years at this level ahead of him. Holding onto assets that you already have, rather than finding new ones - is actually smarter business.
Agree with this.

We suck at selling players its pathetic almost.

part two, why are we linked with players that will not improve us? when player that will are available and for reasonable amounts.

the one in charge for our transfer dealings and strategy this summer have some explaination to do.

fucking hell, reading your posts I could almost have forgotten we just won the league

this every time; he is well worth the £100k a week he is after, a great player and a great bloke, loves City
As I said earlier I think his (previous?) connections with Kia Joobachian have not helped his case. I hope we keep him.

As far as I am aware Kia does not and never had represented Nigel - am I mistaken in that belief? Kia represents Carlos and Carlos is still a City player
I wasnt suggesting KJ has been NDJ's "official" representative/agent but only that KJ was reported to be offering "advice" to certain City players in the past. Although CT is still part of the squad there seems to have been almost a "war" footing between KJ and some of the City hierarchy in the past.
I'm not trying to muck rake but simply asking for NDJ to be offered a contract based on his considerable footballing ability.

I think you misunderstood me.

I really dont care if we sign anyone, im more than happy with our team.

I just dont understand our strategy. do we really need sinclair/drenthe, kind of players?

or do we need backup for kompany/lescott and Yaya/barry?

drenthe has not been connected with our club by anyone other than his own agent (and we know why he did that); regarding Scott Sinclair have you watched him much - he is a good young English player, who will be content with bench time and will flourish with much better players around him - the same goes for Rodwell; we have such a good first team that we cannot bring in players of the same level as they will not all get to play every week; also we need to have sufficient English players in the squad. Regarding centre back cover it is well documented that Bobby is trying to bring Agger in

I have always said it - not good enough to start for a top top team.

He is a good sub, but nothing more.

wow, go to a game and you'll see what we mean.

Exactly. I feel like 'fan snobbery' for saying this, but I genuinely believe the De jong haters are people who don't go to games and don't entirely understand what he does.

Partly because you see a different game on the TV, as you see what the camera shows, not the whole pitch.

I think they are FM players who expect everyone to be a superstar going forward.

Not at all, and I went to numerous games last season.

The problem is I just don't think he is that good defensively (he is poor athletically and in the air) and slows our attacks down too much.

He is an excellent sub for closing out games but I think that is all he can ever be.

Is that worth 100k/week? I think not

A useful player but is he as good as Claude Makélélé in his prime? In my opinion no, and is not worth the wages he is asking for. Thanks for the memories Nige but time for us all to move on.

That is just blasphemy! I am sorry.
