if he goes anywhere then it will be a sad sad day for city.

It means the likes of Craig Bellamy, who has been linked with Spurs, Nigel De Jong, bought for £16m, and the unsettled Stephen Ireland could all leave for knockdown prices

someone tell me this is lies?

i will be fuming if de jong goes

best player by far, just look at the chelsea game.

he also plays because of his love of football, he earns enough to not even play the game due to his business.

i am really pissed off now.

best player ive ever seen in a city shirt... and ive been regularly going to games since the division 1 winners. (due to my age)

NOTW know fuck all, have fuck all insight.

Football journalism, except for a few at the very high end, is getting less and less specialised and esoteric these days to be honest - half the posters on here could do a tabloid football journalist's job just as well or better and be no worse connected. It's becoming a bit of an anachronism and a joke. These people are getting money for old rope.

To be fair NOTW broke the Barry story before anyone, even before any ITK's if I remember rightly

if we sell all those players the NOTW has us down for flogging, we will struggle to meet the homegrown rule...its utter shit! and as for de jong, you only have to look at last season when Mancini rested him against Brum(think it was them) so that he passed the yellow card cut off point, which meant he was available for the big games against Arsenal, rags and Spuds, to see that Mancini rates him. I would be very suprised to see him go, he is the player that sits there and does the simple thing in order to allow the likes of Yaya,SIlva,Johnson,Barry to support the attack. he may not get as many games this season, but with upwards of 60-70 games this season, if he plays in half of them he still gets 30-35 games, same goes for the rest of them. Its all about a squad game from here on in, and in order to get the maximum from that squad, you don't want your players playing more than 40-45 games in the season, to keep them fresh and fully fit. with injuries and suspensions inevitable, its a long season, and you need the strength in depth to compete in every competition, and need to know that against the "lesser" teams, you have the ability to send out some of the squad players and know that the team will still be competitve and capable of winning games, as Chelsea and in recent years the rags have been able to do.

de Jong is a good player- don't think we are in the business of selling our better players now. Daily Fail has us selling Lescott, another bit of poor journalism.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't NOTW the home of a slimy little shit called Neil Ashton who made up this story about how Yaya Toure earns 220k a week?

Totally believable...

Right, just playing devils' advocate here, I love our Nige.
But maybe, the player himself doesn't fancy his chances of getting regular games?
With our new midfield set up, he won't be.
I don't think he's a rotation policy kind of guy.

I do know fook all though, just a thought.

ffs as many have already said it's the News Of The World - A paper with so much integrity and honesty that on the day after Alex Higgins dies their front page headline is " Kerry Katona dumps her boyfriend/hubby because he drinks too much " Alex's death is in a side window on the front page. Sigh.

I rest my case your Honour......

I wouldn't have thought so, if anyone drops out of the pecking order I'd have said it would be Vieira and Barry, didn't have the greatest of seasons whereas De Jong was immense.

I can see a De Jong, Toure midefield with possibly Silva just in front next season.
