They didn't really need goals though, they wanted to lessen their over reliance on Rooney. What they needed to do was shore up midfield and defence to stop conceding as many goals. Which they haven't done.

I do,they are our main rivals.


Yep,thats my point,we didn't come close to addressing our weaknesses in the last window and in fact may well have made things worse,unacceptable.

The teams you mention above both have similar type replacements,albeit not the same quality but certainly players that are good enough to play for such clubs.

You can´t really replace Silva or Yaya. Gareth can be replaced by Milner or Rodwell. Obviously they´re not as good as Gareth, but still good replacements. There´s not many players like Yaya out there and they would cost quite alot and his replacement, would he be content sitting on the bench? The same goes for Silva´s replacement. When everyone´s fit it´s impossible to keep them all happy, do you think Mario, Edin, Nasri, Lescott, Maicon, Garcia etc would be happy to sit on the bench?? Our problem last year was that our squad was thin, that had been adressed this year. Like many people I don´t think it was our best window, it´s a decent one none the less. We had to consider FFP, the homegrown rules and we don´t pay over the odds anymore.

You keep saying this. Chelsea bought Lukaku for £18m, Liverpool Henderson £15m, Downing £20m and Carrol £35m yet none of those are first team!

Cazorla 16m,Kagawa 17m & VDV 8m.

Why would we pick the bad and the stupid moves from Liverpool !

Lukaku is very expsive but at least he has the potential to be their new Drogba, but I am not sure if Sinclair or Garcia will ever be regular for City.

De Rossi is a proper old school bruiser defensive midfield, but offers great vision in attack too, players like De Rossi are a dying breed and any defense in the world would love a player like Daniele protecting them.
