De Rossi (again)

Roma tried all they could to offload him to us in the summer, but DDR said no.

It'll be the same old story in January.

We need a player like him now though, problem is we would pay alot for a player who's getting on a bit.

De Rossi agent 'in Manchester'

Roma star Daniele De Rossi has become a realistic January transfer target and reports in Italy claim his agent is in Manchester.

Today's Gazzetta dello Sport claims De Rossi's agent is in England, just a couple of days after Roma admitted they would be willing to listen to offers for their captain in the transfer window.

City were linked to the 26-year-old Italian international, who can play at the back or in midfield, in the summer but his club were not willing to entertain the prospect of losing their star.

Roma sporting director Franco Baldini said yesterday: "In the summer we listened to the proposal from City, but we rejected it.

"If the club returned, we would again listen to their proposal."

City, who signed Javi Garcia from Benfica instead, face competition for De Rossi's signature from Real Madrid, while Paris St Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has apparently urged his club to make a move for the Italian international.

De Rossi remains devoted to the Serie A club and will not move to any other Italian outfit, having come through the youth ranks and been a fan of Roma since childhood.

'City, who signed Javi Garcia from Benfica instead'

Like they are even on the same footballing planet........

And DDR is not 26 - we wish!

Blues on here who have followed my posts on the De Rossi threads know I am pretty mad on getting Daniele to come City.

I was thinking before though, wiill he put his Roma and Italy performances in for us, or any club for that matter?

I mean if I was a City player, being a City fan anyway I would be die hard on the pitch, playing out of my skin for the badge, just like De Rossi is for Roma. However, If I was to go to another club, I would play the best I can be, but I would not be as die hard as I would if I played for City.

This is my only issue with De Rossi, it wil all come down to how much work and effort he is going to put in if he came out of his comfort zone in Rome.

That is another thing, alittle off topic but many football fans and pundits believe that if De Rossi left Roma earlier, he could of become one of the greatest if not the greatest defensive midfielder ever, he has stayed in his comfort zone at Roma so the potential that many saw in his early twenties has potentially not been fulfilled.

First of all, I'm as mad as you :D
About your concerns, I think he is that type of player who gives everything on the pitch, no matter for whom he plays. He has this 'do-or-die' and 'never surrender' fighting attitude.. The thing about intelligent, professional footballers - no matter what shirt you wear, you must give everything on the pitch, do your best for the current team. It's their pride.
Does Aguero plays badly now than he was in AM? No. Or Pirlo? He newly opened himself in Juve. De Rossi one of those players who will do his best in any team.

If the Garcia thread is anything to go by, I hope if he does come his first few games aren't average or people will want him thrown on the scrap heap

BOOM. Totally agree actually mate.

I really hope he chooses us over PSG if he ends up being sold, he did say in the Summer during the Euros he has an attraction for the Premier League, so I hope that means something in our favour rather than going to France.

I'm starting to hate PSG for sniffing around DDR...:)
What City can offer him? Just some things: he likes Premier League - check, fantastic title-winnig, professional squad with best players and facilities - check, italian manager (coaching stuff) with whom he's familiar and have same attitude - check, national team-mate - check, Champions League - check, real chances to win trophies before retiring and make new history - check.. I'm not even including wages and other related stuff..
Of course, some facts are same as if he will go to PSG, but I doubt that French League is better/interesting for him, most of footballers always dreamt about playing some day in the PL.

We should go for benat rather... younger and cheaper and is a great ball distributor... hope too see him at city in Jan. . .

Is he any good at holding or defending though?

I must admit I havent seen much of Benat, but from what people make out, he seems to be a playmaker like Yaya.

If we have two playmakers, we will get opened up and rinsed to pieces.

De Rossi is not only a great playmaker, but he is probably in my opinion the best defensive/holding midfielder there is, he has it both in equal measures; he is the all round midfielder.

If we ended up missing out on him in the summer only for him to go to PSG in January whilst we signed Javi Garcia, I will fucking rage.

Indeed! I would not even rule out De Rossi going Chelsea either, they need an experienced player in that position similar to when they signed Makelele at 30, at the end of the day who better than De Rossi?

My favourite non-city player, I will be fuming if he went to PSG or Chelsea!

Imagine Bluemoon in January if Chelsea signed Falcao and De Rossi.

Those two players would give Chelsea such a massive boost!

De Rossi and Falcao have not played on the CL this season so they would be both eligible to play for Chelsea, it would not suprise me if they get to the final at Wembley!
