Can't see us signing another midfielder until 1 is gone. De Jong in this case.
Then we would have: Yaya, De Rossi, Barry, Rodwell, Milner + Razak (unless he goes on loan).
Yaya and De Rossi starters. I think Barry at 31 (and now injured) will be 2 more seasons at City till he is 33. I can see his role reduced and playing more of a squad role from now on.
But not sure if i believe these De Rossi rumours yet.

barry was one of our best players last season, just cant see him being dropped

Surely they'll rotate, Yaya didn't get much of a rest last season

Can see that happening either before or after CL games, but depending on who the PL opposition is.At times last season you could see he was knackered and IMO he will certainly not be playing virtually the full quota of games as long as we have more than adequate cover.Well somehow !!

Re: De Rossi

I am surprised there has been nothing more about this. I would have expected a transfer like this would have been picked up elsewhere, especially when England are playing Italy tonight.

Then again, no one picked up Rodwell. But to use the fact that a transfer isn't talked about really would be clutching at straws....

Or maybe not.Perhaps City have put a gag on the reporter (via Roma) until things are clearer ref fee etc.

Yaya is an immense player for us but he is off to the ACN in January. There is also talk of Kolo leaving, which will not please him and he has spoken fondly of wanting to return to Barca in the future.
He has only 2 years left on his contract and there is a real possibility he could leave next summer.
IMO it is right to strengthen midfield. I dont know how the figures stack up with De Rossi. He impressed at the Euros but with sciatica he will not be available for every match.

Brian Kidd said Mancini is going to look into the players eyes and see if they have that hunger for more.

Even Lee Dixon on the ITV coverage of the Charity Shield said that there will be certain players who will not be up for defending the title, and to some extent I agree.

Defending the title and going after the European Cup is on a completley different level to winning the title for the 1st time in a very long time.

Like Yaya, De Rossi is a winner - with them in midfield we can seriously challenge for the title again and even really go all out for the Champions League. We don't know who the players are yet, but we will find out sooner or later, for some players the pressure could get too much and for this reason it is why Mancini wants to bring in players who he thinks can help us keep the title.

Winning the title again will cement a winning mentality in my opinion.

Brilliant post

I don't watch De Rossi play so i on't know much about him. How will he improve the team? Is he worth £28 million?

I don`t believe that is applicable to Hart,Kompany,De Jong,Barry,Milner,Richards,Zaba,Sergio,Nasri,Lescott.
,Silva,Clichy,Tevez,Kolarov,Balo,Pants.
However I have omitted certain players as I don`t think they showed too much enthusiasm last season but thats just my opinion.
I think they have the hunger and desire to take it once again.
