Would be nice to have DDR before we play Liverpool away.

I think if there is a deal to be done now is the time to move quickly.

Looks like Agger deal dieing a death so we need to target another CB quickly also
Suspect if City get DDR they can abandon thoughts of signing Agger. Can't see us going for both

Mancini confirmed today that City still active in the transfer mkt.

If the American owners truly are following a " money ball" model then they are by definition a selling club. I see great hope there for us to sign DDR.
This is probably the last moment for Roma to sell the player for a lot of money, and for the player to play in a top League outside Italy.
True enough. They can't afford to keep him. I remember many here, including myself thought he had signed the new contract simply to give Roma a big Thank You check. I hope that's true. Signing of the decade. Imagine Rodwell traing alongside DDR for 3-4 years.... Could prove to be an immense window in the years to come.

I know he can play in a back 3 but if we were playing a back 4 and VK or JL got injured could De Rossi do a job there or would we still be looking at a scary Savic situation?

If they're following the moneyball model than they have too. One of the core ideas of moneyball is to sell high, to move on your players when they are at their highest value or before you can no longer afford them. At 29 (?), he is at his peak and his value will only decrease from here, so now would be the time to capitalize on that.

However the moneyball approach from baseball doesn't really translate to football, the systems are just too different, so they may take a different approach.

What does this mean
It means that Roberto's Italian friend has been with mancini today and yes he thinks we are interested and can afford him, but that he doesn't know if the player's agent is in manchester.

This is another Italian web-site version of the same radio interview

OME League MANCHESTER CITY DE ROSSI / ROME - Giorgio De Giorgis, FIFA agent very close to Roberto Mancini , has been interviewed by teleradiostereo , commenting on the story De Rossi-Manchester City : "I know nothing about the offer of the City, so that c ' is a concern, but nothing more. I heard Mancini - he says - it is absolutely certain that he wants the player and that he likes, because De Rossi is a player that everyone loves and everyone wants. In any case - he explains - the sale of the Roma is tied to the will of Rome, "he concluded.

Sergio Berti is also a good friend of Mancini. He was agent for Mihajlović back in his playing days..

if we cant indulge mancini after winning the league in the one player he covets over probably all then its a bloody show (assuming he is available at the right price)..

...anything

The perfect player to both partner Yaya in our shape from last season but also sit between Vince and JL if we move to a 3, totally worth anything around 30 million in my view. Another leader as well, fantastic. Please make it happen.
ahem....
Plus when was the last time we had a properly bearded player?

DDR + yaya in the midfield with kompany behind them. anybody trying to get though is going to get destroyed, especially glass man RVP.

I like Savic and think he has lots of potential. He has a great eye for the pass and gets the ball directly to the forwards. However, a swap + @25mil would be a win for both sides.

Hell, throw in AJ as a thank you gift.
