Who cares about resale value?

Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Iniesta all in a sense have no resale value. Why? Because there's no intention of these players ever leaving.

It's the same with De Rossi. We'd have no intention of selling him, he's one of the most exciting players a team could sign and would help to propel us to greater heights, earning us more £££ in the process. We're not a selling club anymore, we're trying to become a great one.

I think the counter arguement when signing a player with no potential resale value is how many of his best years can he give to the club. DDR will have used up the majority of them at Roma.

Seems like the same argument to me.

Question is if buying club, knowing of low resale value, still wants to buy the player, that would seem, to be the most important point.

9million Euros a year = £145,000-per-week according to my calculator. I would think he'd be closer to our £198,000-per-week wage ceiling?

Sign the contract De Rossi, you know you want to and Mario is waiting. :)

Italians usually express the net salary - so it may be closer to 200k per week.

Nicely constructed argument..........pity it's a pile of steaming dung!
They have to believe some thing Tom Zidane is better than yaya to, fuckwitts

Phil Thompson today said he was "the dynamic player they needed" or words to that effect.

I hope he's a monumental fucking disaster. No where near the palyer he is being hyped up to be!

He thought Charlie Adam signing for the dippers was a master stroke!

Had a quick look on gazzetta dello sport and found this don't know if it's new and I don't speak Italian
Offertona City, De Rossi vacilla Frenata Ramirez-Southampton
Any clues what that means and I cannot get into the story as I don't have a membership to gazzetta

The Gazzetta say´s " 23.55 - Daniele De Rossi is seriously considering the offer of Manchester City, which is the time a court ruthless to Roma midfielder. Roberto Mancini's team gave the prosecutor national blue a contract from 9 million a year. Also raised the offer to the Giallorossi 35 million, to which Rome could decide not to give up."

Just before midnight .

Manchester City have opened talks with Daniele De Rossi's agent (Picture: EPA).

The 29-year-old has been one of Roberto Mancini's top targets for around 18 months, and the City boss had been hopeful of finally getting his man last month, only to baulk at Roma's £30 million asking price.

Mancini then opted to sign Everton's Jack Rodwell for around half that, but after being granted permission to go on a late spending spree by chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak, a deal is back in the pipeline.

Al-Mubarak is wary that City have fallen behind Manchester United and are being caught up by Chelsea and Arsenal following their summer of spending, and he is now willing to hand over extra funds for new players.

De Rossi is willing to consider leaving boyhood club Roma this summer, but only if the deal is financially worth his while, and he has now sent his agent to England for talks over a transfer.

It's thought De Rossi would command wages in excess of £170,000-a-week, but some of that would be offset with the imminent departures of Emmanuel Adebayor, Roque Santa Cruz, Adam Johnson and Nigel De Jong - all of whom have held talks with other clubs in the last few weeks.

A strong, powerful and all action midfielder, De Rossi's neat passing style combined with his rugged defensive side make him an ideal Premier League player, and City hope they can prise him away from Roma for less than the £30 million valuation.

City believe De Rossi, at 29, is worth around £20 million, but would be willing to include bonuses within that to force the final fee closer to £25 million.
De Rossi will only play his part in trying to engineer a move away if he can agree terms on a contract with City this week.
