IMO you don't have a press conference to say you are going. You do have a press conference to say you have had the most fabulous offer from City, that the board have been staggered at the transfer fee involved but having discussed the matter with the Chairman he has backed me 100% in the decision and my decision is that I stay.

1) It raises his profile evenmore with the Roma fans
2) It endears the fans more to the new owner and their project
3) It tells the Prem League that Seria A can retain its best players and money doesn't always talk.
4) Allows them to have a pop at AC Milan who sold Silva and Ibra.

All all this just before the start of the new season.

I will hold my hands up and apologise to the whole board if this is his farewell.

De Rossi is not realitically beingreported in the press, if this went ahead it would be the singke biggest transfer in the Prem not just tis year but for a few years

So do I.
He will want his beloved fans to understand him, and to give him an emotional permission to leave the club for a few years, try something new in the Premier league.

He'll be back in the Italian capital within four years I reckon, and considering the amount of money he'll bring to the club I'm sure they would show him nothing but the utmost of respect and understanding.

If for some reason Manchester City had to face Roma in a cup competition, I doubt Daniele would participate.
