Sergio Berti, de Rossis agent was yesterday in Dubai watching Milan vs PSG (de Rossi is also one of Ancelotti's targets), tomorrow he will be in Rome for a meeting with James Pallotta (from the american consortium that owns Roma) & Franco Baldini (Romas general manager and old team mate to Mancini), on Monday Pallotta travels to London for business meetings, heres for hoping!

They will go apeshit in Italy if he leaves and I think that the new american owners financially will do what it takes to make him stay, so lets hope he wants another challenge and to play for the team of God.

De Rossi is not leaving. He has roma in his dna and will get a good contract. If mancini wants a replacement for toure, he should go for moussa sissoko. The guy is a modern box-to-box with superb technique, dribbling skills, pace and a powerful shot. Btw, he is only 22 yes old.

With his agent now saying De Rossi intends to stay at Roma, I'm disappointed - it will be hard for us to have a chance to buy a midfielder of this quality in the next few years, especially at the price we could get him at.

The Independent claims that he has been learning English though.

seems to me that Roma just want to sell him in june for stacks more money. If thats the case we shouldn't be treated like mugs - He either wants to come when we want him or i think there are probably better players out there. looking at his stats he doesn't offer much in terms of goals or assist. i expect if this drags onto until summer and they want 25 mill then there are better options. I like Gotz (spelling) the young german lad.

if we can pick up DDR now for a reasonable price with Yaya gone to ACON then thats a different matter

1. This season he's been playing a much more defensive role, and even centre back a few times. Tells you all you need to know.
2. Not surprised he doesn't have many assists when you play with the likes of Osvaldo....

Yeah but rumour is that Roma are offering an escape-clause of 21m in his contract, which means that if a club pays that much next summer he can go.

De Rossi is only worth it if we can get him on a low transfer fee. But that won't happen if he signs a new contract.

Daniele De Rossi will ignore a potentially lucrative move to Manchester City and sign a contract extension at Roma, according to his agent.

City boss Roberto Mancini has been a long-time admirer of the 28-year-old Italy midfielder, while Chelsea have also been linked with a bid.

But, despite drawn-out contract talks, De Rossi's emotional attachment to hometown club Roma appears to be too strong for him to consider a move elsewhere.

His representative, Claudio Pasqualin, instead expects an initial deal to be struck with Roma before a new contract is finalised in the summer when the existing terms expire.

"De Rossi wants to stay at Roma, even though, as a professional, he wants to optimise his (financial) situation," said Pasqualin.

"My feeling is that an agreement will be reached."

Pasqualin revealed he is still discussing with Roma the size of a release clause in the new deal.

"The stumbling block is the figure with which the player can release himself in June, which is a sufficient period within which to re-evaluate the situation," he said.
