According to reports in Italian media Daniele De Rossi is heading close to the exit at Rome. They say the player today made a point of signing many autographs at the gates of the training ground and was then seen training alone, away from the main group, with one or two other players who are likely to move such as David Pizarro.

The player has reportedly already agreed personal terms with Manchester City and is due to talk to Water Sabatini, Roma's Director of Football, to make him aware of the situation.

There is a thought that De Rossi could simply be trying to get a huge increase on his current salary and he will meet with American executive James Pollatta to see if this is possible. The new American investors won't want to lose the player and if they do will want it to be clear they did everything to keep him.

Manchester City hardly need a long term player in his position but may be looking to offload De Jong in the summer. Manchester United on the other hand are crying out for a player of De Rossi's stature and their supporters will be increasingly frustrated should he go to City.
