The time this is taking just suggests he's going to accept a new contract, if he wanted to leave he would of done. It sounds like he's just waiting for the best possible contract at Roma and they won't want to lose him.

If he's accepting a new contract, why are they still haggling about it ? They don't have to wait til the transfer window, he's their player. If they're so in love with each other, why isn't it already done ?

De Rossi has all the cards whilst the window is open - if he does want to stay at Roma he is playing it right.

City's contract offer of €9 million-a-year remains on the table as De Rossi's negotiations with Roma over a new deal continue to flounder.

I am not trying to be an ITK, but I'd say its the first, they keep saying he's missing training for an injury .. I've watched him play his last match with Roma in the league and he looked fine when he was substituted in the 78th min and from what I read in some of Roma's forums .. they are expecting him to leave.
