Not necessarily, the De Rossi camp were holding out on a 15 million Euros release clause, let's wait and see if they budged, Baldini will reveal the details at a press conference.

Depends on if it has a get-out clause really, if it does nothing much changes.

except you pay 25mil for him now in a transfer fee.

Yea it seems a bit pointless now. Might as well spend that money on a younger player

Can we have Javi Martinez now after this waste of time trying to sign someone who was never going to join us.

Why would City justify De Rossi love to his club by paying his club 15 Million and paying him a huge salary ?
Most of the posters here were saying City will pay De Rossi high wages because we will get him so cheap.

If he so attached to them let him enjoy his stay there.

I tend to agree to this...if, at a later stage, he does want out of Roma and join us supposedly at £12.5m , he should reduce his wage demands...

I think we need to call time on this thread and forget this guy. Should he want to come here let him get his agent to sort it. Just move on...

you could say it in 2 words - "f**k him" :)

We should take different approach when trying to acquire players so they couldn't use our interest to get better contracts at their current or future teams. Like giving them some specific time period to say if the want to come or not. If not than publicly announce the end of interest.

Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has committed his future to the Giallorossi by signing a five-year contract extension.

The 28-year-old Italy international, whose previous deal was due to expire this summer, had been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester City reportedly particularly keen to acquire his services.

However, Sunday's announcement - which comes after months of negotiations between the player and the American-owned club - looks set to end such speculation.

"We have reached an agreement with De Rossi for five years," Roma general director Franco Baldini said to Mediaset. "(On Monday) we will give the financial details of the deal.

"We are delighted to announce this agreement. It has been a difficult renewal because he (De Rossi) could have chosen other destinations. This has represented an added hurdle but he chose us and that is a good sign."

De Rossi has played all of his career for Roma and featured in Sunday's 4-0 triumph over Inter Milan after missing the last two Serie A games with a back injury.

Never looked like having the cojones to move to City: too far from Momma.
So he is basically a pussy, right? I get that the concept of a true club hero is difficult to grasp for some City fans (read: you), but surely you could think of better reasons than just stated?

PS: There's no clausule in the contract signed by De Rossi.
