At City he may also set a trend for shirts with one long, one short arm, they'd be great for the unpredictable weather in Manchester, particlarly if the arms zipped on and off.............

Lol and dont forget the bandage on the hand of the short sleeved arm!!

Except the right foot when he missed an open goal from 2 yards out..................

Was hardly a tap in to be fair ffs.

De Rossi is one of the best in the world - no doubt.

Thought De Rossi was the best player on the pitch apart from Pirlo... he would fit in well alongside Yaya in the defensive midfield twosome...

you forgot about Young ...

De Rossi was good defensively last night; made a few decent challenges, but he was poor in an attacking sense and given that Italy were attacking for most of the match this meant he had a reasonably poor game. Milner moved inside and made it difficult for him to have a big impact on the game hence he was substituted. He miss-placed a few simple passes and really should have scored. Not his best performance but that shouldn't put us off, he's a top player.

It's that superstition (or paranoia) he has that he always plays poorly against English sides. Media kept talking about it so much that the guy now actually believes it. And that mentality affected his performance. For a guy who put in a stellar performance against Spain, there's no other way to explain it..

Yes he did misplace some passes cos he only achieved an 89% pass completion, which was a bit better than his average for the tournament.

eh? what's pass completion rate got to do with anything?
Jordan Henderson got 100% pass completion rate during the match. Doesn't mean he was the star of the show...don't take the stats out of context.
I think we've all agreed De Rossi was good defensively, it's mainly his finishing we're talking about, which may be put down to a case of nerves..

but he doesnt have to have great finishing to play at City. he'd play much deeper than Yaya, who would be the main attacking thread from the midfield (well, apart from Silva, depending on how you look at City formation).

Understood, but he does attack a lot, and I did mention this was probably just a blip in an otherwise great Euros performance.
It's his ability to play in multiple positions that has attracted Mancini, and if we were to get him, having one more player who can attack, in addition to his defensive duties, wouldn't hurt :)

Or a case of him being a midfield player who doesn't score that many goals & doesn't anticipate scoring like a striker would.
