DeRossi or Javi Martinez given the choice ?
DeRossi i believe we could get him for somewhat of a reasonable price and he wouldnt stunt our youth in a few years time as martinez would possibly do. plus im not all that convinced on what ive personally seen of martinez. de rossi is absolute class however im not sure if this comes into play but would john henry really sell 2 of his best players(owns roma and scouse) to us? something to think about tbh

John Henry is a business man, he will want to make money from his footballing ventures. Arsenal's lot have been selling to us for a good few years now and made a good sum of money out of us.

De Rossi but Martinez is better than he's shown just lately.

All players go through lean spells where confidence is low and JM seems to me to be in that situation.

He will bounce back. Still pretty young.

De Rossi is a machine, never gives in. you can't teach that to anyone, he would be my personal preference. Christ, havn't we moved on from the days of Paul Bosvelt......now thats a reality check

We better getting a CM in, considering Mancini tried to get another CM this time last year, and had to make do with Hargreaves, then Pizarro from January onwards. Those two have both left, so were light in CM!

There is only one Yaya Toure.

De Rossi can't match Yaya's performance EVER.

And I don't think he will add anything to City's current CM area.

I think NDJ, Barry, Milner and Razak could do the defensive part

While Yaya and Nasri can do the offensive part in the CM area.

Good point, particularly if they play like tonight, as yaya had more impact upfront

A complete chunk of manure of a post. Fuck resale value, we buy a player to get the very best out of him, not to sell him at some point down the line, I fucking hate the whole "resale value" bollocks. Add to that, despite his age De Rossi could still give us more than Martinez could, because the latter is horrendously overrated.

Its not a chunck of manure - many many top clubs and manager such as Wenger do consider age and resale value of the players they buy and punt them or only offer then yearly contracts - Rags seldon buy anyone of 28 ish or more as do a number of other clubs expecially for those players valued at 20 million and 1ooK plus a week

Now from a City perspective we dont know what Khaldoons thinking is do we just buy and write off any reslave value or do we buy younger players whom have some value in the transfer value at the end of their contract

I would suggest that the our biggest transfer fees under Mancini has been on players sub 25 - 26 in the main

I'm not surprised you've stuck your nose in. You mention Wenger, but don't forget the fact that he hasn't won a trophy in 7 years, and more importantly on this topic, his transfer record has been abysmal in recent years (Vieira and Henry for reduced fees, Fabregas and Nasri sagas, the same now happening with van Persie) so to use him as an example to give backing to your petty resale value argument is ridiculous.

Its a football forum fella

Secondly many clubs Le Arse being one but as i pointed out also the Rags whom have been (relatively successful sadly) seldon buy players the wrong side 28 - they went big for Nasri last season but he was 25 from memory

If you honestly do not think that clubs from top to bottom DO NOT consider resale value when they buy players then you know fuck all about football because they do and Wenger and Rags and even Citys recent transfer policy would indicate that - the age of a footballer does directly impact his transfer value

The top top clubs over the years have traditionally been paying big transfer fees for emerging youngish players with the logic that paying high transfer fees when they're young will be repaid through longevity and contribution to trophies - a good example this season would be Hazard and Oscar but two other much talked about players would be Martinez and Mourha -all young all top players

We might land De Rossi or RvP but it is questionable if the owners would purchase two players - both circa 29 whom would demand top wages with all the difficulties that creates (ie Adebayour whom salary is preventing a sale) only to have to spend the same again in 3 maybe 4 years time to replace them

As i have posted on several occasions i would buy De Rossi but what you or i think is utterely irrelevent and only Khaldoon, Marwood and Mancini are relevent unless you know Khaldoon, and as you almost certainly dont then i would suggest my view is no more or less value than yours.
