If he has 2 years left, can 100% see why he’s saying he’ll be here next season!
But if he re-negotiates his contract this summer then he will have doubled his wages for next season. Makes sense to sign, really. If he has 2 years left, can 100% see why he’s saying he’ll be here next season!

Given his cost and, more importantly, the cost to replace him, a new contract is a no-brainer.
However, that contract still needs to fit into the team’s pay structure. I’m sure there are creative ways of paying him what he needs to sign a looong term deal. The only question now is whether City see the value in him being signed up on a 5-6 year deal (a la Bernardo), if he is going to be lukewarm for half a season.
Team needs world class ball players, who are also grafters that will fight to both retain and get the ball back. Only seeing fleeting moments of that, but more recently he is upped that aspect of his game.
I hope he becomes the global superstar that his potential portends...and I hope he does it here!!
this is becoming an ever more important factor in transfer policy now. Take Gundogan; i still think he splits opinion on ability to play the central role but if we sell, especially with Fernandinho getting older, how much money will we have to spend to replace him?! same goes for Sane, we're shopping at the very top now
I would be tempted to sell at £100 million!!
