Some people deserve to die

Based on whose judgement?

The greater point is that only God is our judge, or for the literal atheists who need it, the idea of judgement from a morally flawed human is in itself morally flawed.

There is no such thing as God so we make our own rules and if you really think we can have a society governed by some mythical super being then we are all in trouble

Taxi you can't use the word humane when talking about ending somebody's life against their will. It is oxymoronic.

Oh I know you don't want to die, but I'm going to murder you anyway.. but painlessly, so that's ok.

The only way I can see that killing and humane can go together as words are in euthanasia. If they're in agony and they ask for it, then you could say it is an act of mercy.

But with opinion on the death penalty, whether you are pro or anti, you should stick to your principles, because if you don't then you really have none. Whether you know or love a victim should have no bearing on your decision. Being anti the question is always "What if it was your wife, or your child, or someone you loved that got killed?" So basically the question is "Where is your desire for revenge?" As if revenge is this great quality we all should have.

If we all had guns and a bloke walked into the pub and put a bullet in your wife's head, you'd probably shoot him dead before you realized how sad you were. He murdered your wife, and now you've murdered him. Congratulations. I think we are astute enough to realize that we act impulsively and that it isn't always in our best interest to do so.

For me the right to live is the same as the right to die. I don't believe in killing someone who wants to carry on living, and I don't believe in keeping people alive who want to die.

If these broken-minded murderers come to the realization of what they did, have remorse, and want to end it rather than spend the next 40 years in prison, then we should let them do it. Give them the poison gas mask to put on themselves.

For what it's worth I've always been against the death penalty.

I had a brother who was murdered by his partner back in 1976. Whilst part of me (revenge) would like to see the bastard swinging from a lamp post I really don't understand why people think capital punishment is an answer.

How can we say that to show you how much we think killing people is wrong we're going to kill you to prove our point.

So what was his punishment? How many years did he get?

On the rank and tippy typing with a mobile.
So can't kick back with a dissertation.

I meant humane in that sentence has already been passed.
And on this basis we remove the condemned from circulation that befits the modus operandi of a caring state

We have to protect our citizens from any possibility of a murderer re-offending.

Fair enough la. I just hear it a lot and it bugs me.

And of course we do, I take the point that re-offending is impossible when dead, that point it is unarguable.

We need to stop this death penalty bollocks it doesn't solve anything

neither does feeding and clothing him for 40 years. kill the c**t and be done with.

Couldn't agree more, de niro. The taxpayer should not contribute a bloody cent towards keeping his body and black soul together. An evil, wicked and unrepentant killer! Trouble is, appeals and more appeals will drag on way past the time when City win the CL!

Didn't realise Massachusetts has the death penalty, thought they were more civilised than that.
I lived there for 3 and a half years and always thought there was no death penalty in the state.

I don't think they do. It was a federal case held in Mass.

He wasn't charged with homocide, which I found strange, but maybe that would have required the state of Massachusetts to prosecute and the death penalty wouldn't have been available.

We are all on death row from minute one and many of us will go in a much more brutal way than the needle in the arm and drift off to sleep this fella will probably get.

His actions will have the ultimate consequence. Fuck him.
