Decent shoes

I thought I needed proper boots and shoes, so I bought some.. turns out, despite being a decent fit, they were fucking up my oversized, slightly misshapen, newly over-40 y/o feet.

M&S are alright, extremely durable and suitable for walking, though you should add insoles. Anything else I've tried, if it looks smart, is uncomfortable and seemingly pretty likely to lead to club foot. I've gone for one pair of practical M&S weatherproof boots, a semi-smart pair of suede trainers, and multiple pairs of comfortable trainers. God knows what I'd do if I needed an office job.

In my pomp I thought I'd made it when I bought pair of monk brogues from John Lobb of St James - they had solid silver side buckles. I was wearing them when I got the boot from my London employers for missing weekend assignments to watch City.
