Declan Rice

To go from Bellingham to Rice is depressing.
i mean, rice can do wayyy more things than rice off the ball. hes also miles better at building up in the first phase. he makes us counter attacking proof, which is important. also versatile as he can easily cover 6 and 8. only concern is his quality going forward, which i think pep can develop it into him. hes clearly technically good enough to learn it, i think its a great signing, much higher potential than macallister

Rice is a fabulous player and Pep would turn him into Stones 2.0 but I reckon he'll be at Chelsea(finally) or rags next season.

Think he's unbelievable, think he's just waiting for the right move to truely show he can step up

My best mate is a West Ham fan so seen a good few games and he's always shone

Dont think there is much he can't do

Carries the ball wonderfully, has a great range of passing (as long as he's not playing under Southgate), can play out under the press, has fantastic positional awareness

He does have limitations, perhaps he's a step slow with his feet than the likes of Gundogan etc. But if the plan is to persist with this formation he's a fantastic option alongside Stones or Rodri

Only concern is that the players that might be leaving are Gundo & Bernardo and its true he doesn't really fill the void they'd leave

But if Laporte leaves and Stones is moved between DM and CB I'd much rather Rice alongside Rodri than anyone

The floating 8's will be covered by KDB, Foden, Alvarez and potentially Palmer

absolutely agree. can cover 3 positions hence perfect squad player (cb, 6 and 8), technically brilliant and offers us legs in midfield which is a profile we dont really have. our biggest weakness is counters and hes brilliant at stopping that. no doubt pep will teach him to run a game. only issue is his offensive end product but hes already shown glimpses at west ham and he has the technical potential to achieve it.

hes clear of macallister as an option, not even close

Dont mind Rice in with the system/formation we have right now tbh, not really a position in that back 5 id worry about him in with the rest around him. Only think we'd move if someone rocks up for Phillips early in the window though.

Still made for Arsenal's midfield. If Bellingham is off to Real Madrid there are better alterantives than Rice

I could see Arsenal and Chelsea competing for his signature, but I just don’t see us going for him unless we decide to shift Phillips on, at which point he would be more Rodri’s understudy than Gundogan’s replacement. Would he want that? Would we need that? I know people will say he’s highly versatile, but to my palate rice is rice…

Rice does have the benefit of being a genuinely good centre half though, so as well as deputising for Rodri he could also rotate with Stones, or allow Stones to actually play as a centre half if required.
