I have consistently said this. He just doesn't offer enough with the ball to play in midfield. I don't like seeing Stones play in midfield for us but he arguably looks about the same level as Rice when playing in the middle of the pitch. I would say Stones is the better passer but Rice is more athletic, in my opinion.

he’s been brilliant in midfield for West Ham. Not aimed at you, but there’s an obsession in England with turning midfielders into centre backs.
