Declan Rice

More like we need a backup to Rodri but yes. The problem is the cost which is why I think it will be someone less known than Rice.

Less known but didn't fit the team why bother, if the club thinks Rice is worth it and pep thinks he fit the team he will be transfer target for the club regardless fans opinion about the price tag.

Grealish is already set precedent, they will acquire the player that club and manager wants. It will cost a lot yes, but we have competent board that calculate the risk if the signing is worth 100m for him and just like grealish they will sign him regardless the price if they think it's worth for the player like him.

But again, it alot also depends if Rice is willing to move to Manchester. He seems Chelsea bound and it's very unlikely we will get him.

Agreed but he would cost well north of 100m, not going to happen for basically a backup/option for Rodri.
He could very easily play alongside Rodri. While similar, they are also different and talented enough to compliment each other - we haven't had a lung bursting midfielder since Yaya.

I have no problem with the fee, nor paying it for the right player, and our board run the business brilliantly. The question is more about who. It could well be that there is a recognition that Gundogan and DeBrunye, as well as Fern, are coming to the end, within the next couple of years. In that context, they may have a different perspective as that kind of player is not apparent in the EDS, other than Lavia, as Doyle doesn't seem to have developed as much as we may have hoped and Matt Smith is not at that level.
