Declan Rice

I’ve been told that this isn’t even close yet

Can’t say I’m all that surprised mate.

Just doesn’t feel like a priority position for us given Stones’ adaptation last season.

And whilst I acknowledge he’s a decent enough player - I just don’t rate him anywhere near the £100m bracket to warrant that level of investment.

With Gundo and (very likely) Bernardo both needing replacing this summer, we need a winger/attacking midfielder way more than we need a player like Declan Rice.

Before I retire for the night - sweet dreams of stones,Rodri and rice await. I still can’t quite believe how far we’ve come….l

Rubbish. Foden and grealish will do nicely…..

I think we can agree that we don’t get involved in bidding wars .. if we do want him we’ll have a package and that will be it . Too many players to mention where we’ve walked away from. I like our approach in this take it or leave it,
There’s not a player out there who we’ve missed out on through a media driven bidding war. The tat-tic has served us very well.
The honours list proves this.

Not a big fan of his but I trust txiki and Pep and I haven’t seen him enough to have a full opinion.

Assuming if we did get him, the thinking is partner him with Rodri, and either play Rodri further forward a bit (he’s shown he can do the Gundo role a few times already) or shift Foden centrally.
We shouldn’t move the best DM in the world forward to accommodate Declan Rice.

Why not if he’s also the best CM in the world and allows us to get the best out of Foden centrally, we already started moving him more forward compared to how we played with Fernandinho due to what we did with Stones. It also allows us to properly play a double pivot when that’s needed too.

Like I said, I’m not a huge fan of Rice but Pep and Txiki will know why far far more than we will, I’m just making an assumption as to what their thinking is.

Good luck with that, I'm 3 floors up, and they'd have to get through several doors, but anyway thanks for the nice thoughts (oh and I'm not in London anyway).

Oh by the way "cleavers" is a wild plant that sticks to everything.
Another name for the cleavers plant is "sticky willy".
Just thought I'd throw that in there.

Haaland said in a recent interview, that he watched us play with the false 9 and thought about what he could add… I’ve no doubt that played a part in why we beat everyone to his signature. I’m only adding that to say players think about where they might fit in at a certain club and I’ve no doubt that Rice has thought about it too. There’s plenty of factors at play! That said, if he speaks with Pep and he sells him on a vision, then that would seem hard to turn down.

But we don't do bid after bid like Arsenal is doing. If we want him, we will negotiate with West Ham and get a price that is acceptable for us and them.
Arsenal will probably bid again that will be their third bid, and if West Ham reject that, what is point of doing bids like that.

I was resigned to losing Rice many months ago and I’m pleased if it’s City he goes too, would hate to see him in a Arsenal or Chelsea shirt.

I wonder how many on here will quickly change there minds after slating him when I’ve said he’s one the best midfielders in the world - by far the best Hammers player I’ve seen in my lifetime (1992+)

Anyhow, he wants to win trophies, he wants to move on - he’s served us well and vast majority of Hammers fans will wish him well. If you could chuck us Foden as part of the deal that would be great.

This has echoes of Bellingham. All media & social media speculation, but zip from City.

Sounds like WHU are using us to get Arse to up their bid...
Yeah think so too. Don’t think we want him at all. Just past interest presented as new

God loves a trier!

It would be a guarantee that rice and his team have been given a full run down of where he would fit in either in memos, phone calls or face to face. Every transfer across the land will have something similar going on. It would be ridiculous to think otherwise
