Barcelona is in deep financial trouble nowadays since they transferred the Spanish player, Ferran Torres. His fee is £48.4 million, and Barcelona still owes Manchester City £45 million in payment. Apart from him, Barcelona moved a lot of expensive players without paying their former teams fully.

Asking a senior club source this evening to comment on Sky reports the response came back to 6foot2 "The Rice contract is supposed to be with their lawyers but WHO KNOWS what is going on"

Football debts are ring fenced. When Pompey nearly went to the wall the players & clubs got paid in full, while the laymen got the usually penny in the pound
 
This is kind of funny but also very worrying for Rice. It’s exactly what they didn’t want. He agreed to arsenal move because they made it clear they really wanted him.

Having had Chelsea shaft him in two summer windows and city ask a lot without ever really throwing their lot in, having Arsenal do this now is going to really piss his team off

I think the reality of splashing the cash & remaining within FFP limits is beginning to hit the red tops.

The three of em need to heavily invest just to compete for a top four spot, BUT at the risk of falling foul of the FFP rules they brought in to stop City from competing with them!

Arsenal know the calibre of player required, but their current spend coupled with what they've spent over the last 3 seasons & what they STILL need will push them dangerously close to failing FFP.

Be careful what you wish for innit? :-)

Arsenal are scaping for money or are talking to Real about Tchouameni or Valverde?
 
Strange how this one hasn’t been finalised yet - couldbe that the player and City are waiting on decisions on current city players going? Very odd how Rice hasn’t even had a medical etc. I have a feeling there could be a twist in this one yet…..

i hope so as i think Rice would be a hell of a force in this team under Pep.

WHU have stated that Rice passed his Arse medical weeks ago, but they're still waiting on the contract to arrive from the Gooner's solicitors.
