Demichelis, Lescott or Nasty?

Stats can be deceiving for passes. Especially for defenders. What I see is long hopeful huffs forward more often from Nasty than from anyone else.

For a team built on passing I can't understand why our defenders/goalkeeper lump it forward rather than pass it to a midfielder. We give away so much possession unnecessarily from these punts. We are a fabulous team but we could be even better if we cut this out.

I for one am happy to see the gk hoof it, I haven't bought in fully to this goalkeeper needs to play abit argument. Get it as far from your goal as poss job done.

As for the op, Demichelis hands down. For the foreseeable future I'd start him & Komps in all away games, use Nasti in the home games to keep them fresh. Lescott doesn't enter the equation for me don't think he's anywhere near good enough anymore.

Demichelis first. He provides more direct forward play and has an added string to his bow, being a real threat in the air from set pieces. Nasty as the backup.

My opinion couldn't differ any greater - for me ,play from the keeper as much as the opposition allow us to, a big hoof from the keeper is just a cheap way of giving possession away or at least giving the opposition a chance of winning it back. With the talent we have got you have to play from the keeper as much as possible surely otherwise we are waiting truly gifted players.

"Get it as far from your goal as poss job done" - wouldnt win us anything !! Piss poor style of play - are you tony pulis in disguise ??

And lastly, Lescott for me at the moment with vinnie, the balance is better, they compliment each other better and i think they have a better understanding tbh.<br /><br />-- Sun Dec 29, 2013 2:34 am --<br /><br />

Pullis in disguise? You cheeky *beep* ;) If the keeper can play great but for me It's a secondary attribute give me a goalie that can keep the ball out of the net over one that can pass anyday of the week. I see stupid easily avoided goals conceded all the time all because people have this pervese idea that the ball has to be stroked around the pitch constantly.

Last two seasons we had the best defensive record in the league. That was with Kompany/Lescott and Kompany/ Nastasic. Or a combination thereof, but always including Kompany. Problem now isn't the players, it's the system, (If it is a problem, that is); we are playing a different system than under Mancini. Takes time to get used to.
Demichelis will never have the pace for me, neither will Lescott. Not sure about Nasty.

It's not hard really to play from the back and the keeper doesn't have be "messi " !!
The way our two centre halves split and go wide it allows one of our midfielders to drop in between to recieve a simple pass from the keeper and start play off from there, there are probably about 6 passing options possible for the keeper the way we set up but obviously now and again it has to be knocked up the park (rarely tho )

I just think a big hoof from the keeper isn't playing too our strengths and gives the opposition an unnecessary chance to win the ball back cheaply, a big , high , long hoof becomes a bit of a lottery and then its about fighting for second balls to win back possesion- needless , just keep the ball in the first place.

Anyway , football is about opinions - fair play, each to their own .

You make valid points Pete, in principal I agree but football ideals these days seem to be too rigid with not enough room for common sense.

MD>MN>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>JL.

Anyone who can't see the difference in our forward play with MD, especially, but also Matija compared to Joleon is bonkers.

Aren't we lucky to have such a good selection to pick from, none of them really let us dwon much, so I wouldn't unduly worry who it was, so long as Vinny was fit.

All the other three have attributes we can use well alongside Vinny, but if I was forced to make the choice, I'd probably pick MD first because I think he offers more to the attacking side of our game, and that is who I think MP would select.

Against a more attacking opponent, Nasty. Surprised so many people doubting Nasty tbh. Last season he had a better season than Vinnie (who were under par).
