Demichelis

Jeepers, some right nonsense spouted on here. Everyone seems to be an expert on team selection nowadays. Demichelis was the only available center back to slot in yesterday. But as reserve center backs go, he is a proven international with bags of experience at the highest level. Putting him up against an 18 year old child isn't even a risk 99% of the time. What has occurred with Rashford is a total freak. The lad is riding a wave at the moment, but it's only a matter of time before it runs out of steam. It's not the first time a defender got skinned by a rookie and it won't be the last. You can't take em all out the back and shoot them after the match. It could have easily been Otamendi.
So just because he's been good in the past doesn't mean he's good now.

It's been obvious for months that his legs have gone. It wasn't a "freak". It was an accident waiting to happen. We should be looking towards the EDS team, Adarabioyo did well v Chelsea, for replacements or even using other players there like Sagna and/or Fernandinho. You know, like we had to eventually.

The manager fucked up and he shouldn't be started again IMO. You can't just choose players on their past records alone. You have to look at the form of the player and Demi's form has been shocking for a long time.

His selection was a lazy decision and shows how disinterested Pellegrini now is.

Not his fault he got picked. The only person to blame for Sunday was Pellegrini. Can he not see what the rest of us see? or is he just too stubborn to change? I think it's the later and Demi was the fall guy. It could just as easily have been Willy at Wembley but Pellegrini got lucky with that one. On Sunday, not for the first time, his luck ran out.

I defended his selection as he was one of only 2 fit first team CB's. It can of course be argued if an EDS lad would have done a better job etc but he normally gets picked, end of.

You defend it thinking the manager has seen him work all week, knows he is fit and firing and right mentally for a game of that magnitude.

Then the problem comes in that within 10 mins, it was evidently clear he was going to be absolute rubbish and i do mean rubbish. His legs had gone, his head had gone and the last place he wanted to be was out on the pitch.

You then expect the manager to change it and fast.

He didn't, he hung him and the side out to dry effectively playing with 10 men and waited for nearly an hour to put it right what should have been done after 10 mins.

Thats negligent and unforgivable.

Agreed.

It was the straw that broke the camels back for me with regards supporting Pellegrini and having the utmost respect for him.

Getting beat on the day? Meh, shit happens, its a football game but the disastrous way he handled a player in such a game, any game for that matter was one of the worst things I've witnessed.

I view the season & last season like that. If we are doing the best we can, as a club, & it's not quite enough, then so be it. Try to improve again next season & fair play to whoever wins. I don't start the season expecting to win the CL over Barca or Bayern. I do expect to compete with Leicester.

Re Demi. Great pro, IF he plays, then protect him. Only choice ? Sagna ?

Wanker manager. Demi top pro.

Senior players have to start and senior players have a strictly defined role. Demi started, and will continue to start no matter how fucking shit he'll be because its his turn if others are injured. Same reason Kompany got rushed back and played every match, his turn ain't it

Those of you who are having a go at Demi hold your heads in shame. Firstly he only cost around £4m. Second, he is one of the lowest paid at City. Third, he has put in some great performances over the past few seasons and always give full effort. Fourth, he was only given the last contract at 34/35 to play as 4th choice cb and would have not been considered if others had been available . So the manager thinks that Utd have a few young decent players, fit and hungry to play and to counter this he picks two in midfield one of which cannot or will not defend. The team are told to take a high line leaving a large hole in front of the back four and quess what? Utd run ring around us. All the crowd in Mary D's said what would happen as soon as the team was announced. It's not rocket science! It's the manager to blame for selecting the wrong team (again), but some want to blame a 35 year old player who was set up to fail by Pelligrini . Martin will ,in hindsight, hopefully be considered a good servant of City and one of the club's best value for money buys. Now don't get me on Bony!

I think you speak for plenty of us who were giving Pellegrini the benefit of the doubt in regards to continued support and even respect.
It was atrocious management,at both individual, and team level, and,as far as us supporters are concerned......he fucked us over good and proper in a game of enormous importance with his idiotic and stubborn decisions.
The Rags cant believe their luck right now.

should have never kept his place in the summer over Jason Denayer why give the lad a full pre season and then talk him into a new deal then loan him out again shocking by both club and manager
