Demichelis

Don't usually comment on this site just been looking on it the past few days and Twitter etc. after the derby, some people are making Demichelis out as a scapegoat but in reality it goes much bigger than that, he didn't have anywhere near as bad a game as people make out, I saw someone give him a 2 from The Mirror, he made one mistake at the beginning of the game which was more or less Pellegrinis tactical screw up as he was just unfortunately thrown into the deep end 1 vs 1 with a pacey striker, you can't really blame the guy, he hadn't had a run of games before that game either so in my opinion they may have been better off playing Tosin Adarabioyo in that game as he has more pace, I thought he looked promising in the FA cup game and Pellegrini could do with giving more of his youngsters chances (especially Ineacheacho!) I think Mangala frustrated me more on Sunday because he had a solid game, but after the amount of bad games he has had in a City shirt I don't understand how he can just turn up for a big game with an improved performance, it really frustrates me, and the same with Otamendi in a sense who has had bad games too this season with bad errors he could be called a flop, at least with Otamendi I see a little bit more promise than with Mangala as he seems a bit more composed on the ball and in the tackle, where as Mangala just rushes out and encourages the opposition to run at him with his stupid decisions and positioning, there's a little bit of that with Otamendi but nowhere near as bad as Mangala, at the end of the day give Otamendi a 2nd chance next year under pep see what he does, sell/loan out Mangala and let Demichelis go back or Argentina.
Look not trying to get at Demichelis he has served us fairly well over his stint here but to suggest that he did not have a really bad game on Sunday is fanciful. Personally I think he deserved a 3!!

His failed challenge that led to the goal was hardly a tactical error on Peller's part. A player of his experience shouldn't have charged in blatantly like he did knowing if you fail this challenge, the opposition would be through on goal - it was an amateur mistake coming from a 34yo. I'm guessing even Rashford's surprised he beat Demi that easily.

I love Demichelis to death... loyal to City to the end, helped big time in our title win 2 years ago... but his time has clearly come.

Demi has been coming in and out of our team over the last couple of years and over that time it has taken him longer and longer to get up to speed and he looks increasingly rusty.
What happened on Sunday was a disaster waiting to happen. It’s easy to say in hindsight but he is done at the top level now! I would genuinely play either Fdinho or Humphreys from this point onwards.

Jason Denayer must be watching on in disbelief that he's been shipped out on loan to make room for Demichelis! Pellegrini doing one of his mates a favour again. I think Demi has his good moments but is definitely exposed in our system, and the pace Denayer would make him better suited to it. I just hope Jason is willing to be patient and wait for Pep to give him a chance.

Apparently Txiki has already told him he's coming back to Man City.

I doubt he'll trust a word he says after being given assurances he'd be part of the squad if he signed an extension only to be shipped out on loan again once we signed Otamendi.

Yeah I'd say his stint is over without doubt and maybe we should have let him go easily at the end of last season and given Denayer a chance, I think I'd give him a 5/4 for the weekend game but I think other players had below average games in the attack and midfield, which need to be strengthened if we want to add goals back into our team.

It was a poor decision for him to make that tackle, and I do see that with Demichelis sometimes he tends to be error prone now more than ever but I don't think the rest of the game was particulary that bad 2 other incidents, not a penalty but still clumsy by him, and the backpass that led to harts injury, was a really bad pass bad error in judgement but i think hart slipped a little on the pitch as well, it may sound stupid but maybe the goal area was overwatered.

Demichelis was worryingly slow when he joined and he is three years older now. He made some really amateur mistakes from day one but to be fair to the lad he really got it together second half of that 2013/2014 season. Think it may have been Hull away where Kompany got sent off, Javi Garcia went in to back four alongside Demichelis and he really raised his game that day and seemed to maintain it for rest of the season. His experience and positioning made up for the lack of pace. He became an important member of the squad that title-winning season.

Last season should have been his last with us, his lack of pace and age alone should say he is not a long term centre half. To then give him an extra year and send Denayer out on loan is galling in the extreme.

I actually feel sorry for him, he has been hung out to dry. A good manager protects his players, especially the older ones, he's been brutally exposed. I can't be arsed going in to another long winded Pellegrini diatribe, the only thing I'll say is when so many fans see this and the writing on the wall coming for a while, how the effing hell has a professional manager not?
