Democrat US Presidential Nominations

I hope you're right... er, correct... what was I thinking... dear God, please don't be Right!

But the nomination process isn't about picking the person who might best stand to win against an opponent from the other party - it's about picking the person most popular among those participating in the nomination process - registered voters from a particular party, enthusiastic and behind their candidate no matter how off-center his or her views.
Then they'll have nobody to blame but themselves if or when trump gets in again.

The entire system by which the US decides who is president should be reworked - mathematically - to ensure that the person most representative of each citizen's choice actually becomes president. The math is known - putting it into practice however, is unlikely anytime soon.

Then get off your computer chair and start actively working for a convention of the States. Be warned once it is opened you may have some unexpected results with changes made you are not happy with.

Odds of a Socialist winning the 2020 presidential election in the USA - 1%.
Odds of a Socialist winning the 2020 presidential nomination in the Democratic run-off - > 50%
Odds of Trump winning a 2nd election - barring some sort of impeachable offense - pretty goddamn good - unfortunately.

Unless the Democrats miraculously elect a centrist - the world can look forward to 4 more years of Trump.

My prediction - Trump wins the 2020 election - against some sort of Socialist opponent.

God help the US - and the world once this occurs.

What are you whooshing? I was being 100% honest with a guy that was complaining about a system and likely just complains and doesn't know or care about how to fix his "problem". I say that because on at least two occasions you have stated gerrymandering is responsible for the GOP having an electoral advantage for president.

Now, the president is elected by the electoral college. That is a system set forth by the U.S. Constitution. The "people" don't actually elect the president. The electoral college does. Voters vote for "electors" from their state. These electors are typically sure things and will vote the way the party wants should the party's candidate win the state.

To change the electoral college to whatever the hell it is you want, you need to change the Constitution. There are two ways of doing that, through Congress by constitutional amendment(2/3 of the States would have to ratify it). This method is highly unlikely.

The other method is a convention of the States. It is basically a convention to amend the Constitution. Should this be done, your idea could be considered if you have a legislator that is willing to have the state delegates bring it up at the convention. Once the chest is open though, there may be ideas brought forth you don't like much. Those ideas may gain some traction and become the law of the land.

Does this help? I hope so. :)

You keep chuntering on about a 'socialist' and keep refusing to understand, nay, acknowledge that people are beginning to understand that 'socialism' equals a trillion dollar giveaway amongst other things. Let's just agree to disagree on it.

But, what I will say is Trump will come undone by his own hands.
