Democrat US Presidential Nominations

Biden and Harris would be an interesting transition proposal.

Maybe. I don't think Harris would accept a VP role; she'd be better off staying senator from CA. And while it might help to have a woman of color on the ticket in terms of turnout, certainly the Democrats don't need a Californian which is going blue under every conceptual circumstance. Better someone from a swing state.

One of elements about Biden that used to be a weakness is his age, and the fact that he's a career politician. I am wondering whether after four years of this current experiment in the White House Americans may be relieved to have a President with a long number of years of Beltway experience with his hand on the tiller.

Let's just hope that the Democratic party can get their ducks in a row big time - nominating the candidate best able to defeat Trump.

My prediction - a socialist emerges as the Democratic nominee - and we're saddled with another 4 years of Trump.

So divide up the potential candidates -- who's a socialist and who isn't? Cuz I really am not sure who falls into that bucket.

But yes I think the progressive/traditional wings do really need to galvanize here. Not sure they will.

Sanders will split the vote again, regardless.

Unless sonmeone like Biden puts him on the ticket...

Can't see it.

I think Sanders is largely spent as a political force here. He's been out of the limelight and the progressive wing has younger, more vibrant types to carry the mantle and the message. I could be wrong though.

Warren/Occasio-Cortez (not old enough to run thankfully)/Sanders - way too socialist - none of them could win, IMO - albeit an impeachment level meltdown on Trump's side.

But I could see Warren or Sanders winning out as Democratic nominee.

Beyond that, beats me.

You didn’t answer my question.

I have heard it said that both the US political parties are like the Tories yet I see politicians like you mentioned being front and centre in the Democrat party when it's plainly obvious they are socialists or at the very least progressives. Is it more like the people who call the Democrats Tories are too far left so they think everyone to the right of Sanders is a Tory?

What about John Kerry? Certainly has the experience as former Sec of State?

Certainly has the money and seems to be more hostile than ever to Trump.

He also has the Presidential hair and square head profile.

Both parties are to the right of the Tories.
