Depeche Mode

30 years ago today I was at G-Mex watching Depeche Mode. 30 years!!

Was a great concert, Dave was going through his junkie phase and I think the rest of them was a on some form of narcotics.
Martin singing Somebody was a highlight for me and I always remember Dave coming off stage at the end looking euphoric and high fiving the crew in the wings.

Not a bad setlist either.

That set list is absolutely amazing.

I was at that one too. Drove over from Leeds with my sister not long after I'd started driving, so found driving into Manchester city centre pretty stressful!
Similar set to what i'd seen at Crystal Palace a few months earlier, but loved it as I was pretty obsessed with SOFAD at the time.

Not enough likes for this.

Along with The Sniths, the soundtrack of my teenage years.

I got the coach down from Leeds to Crystal Palace with a coach load of goths just there for Sisters of Mercy. Was an interesting but sociable experience!
I got the coach from Bury, don't remember seeing any goths on board but there was plenty in the crowd. I remember them all rushing to the front when Sisters of Mercy came on, my mate nearly got in a scrap with one as he proper got shoulder barged and took offence.
I can see them now all on eachothers shoulders doing the Karate kid wax on wax off dance.
What was that other group called who came on wearing straight jackets or have I imagined that?

Marxman? A Bristolian rap /dub act.

This tour was the pinnacle for me. The musical equivalent of us winning the treble, they were at the absolute peak of their powers with nothing else out there to touch them.
