Depeche Mode

I'll never forget hearing See You at the swamp before the Derby in early 1982 and going out and buying it a few days later. They were a fantastic singles band. Some good albums aswell. Lucky that they still had such a great songwriter in the band after Vince Clarke left.
See you is a great track.

Might have a few 12" remixes, white labels and promos knocking about the place...

A few = every 12", every album, every remix, every 7", all the box sets and most of the white labels/ promos...there's a few I'm missing...but I'm reduced to either paying 400 quid for a 12" single or hunting for them.
Credit to you,I started collecting a load of their stuff early doors but bailed out around the time of Everything Counts when the record company (Mute records?) began bringing out so many diff variants of the same single.i think this was the time of the multi coloured 12" 're mixes.
Still have a copy of the 1st single on pic sleeve,Dreaming of Me.

Tora Tora Tora,Boys Say Go and See You prob my fav 3 tracks, although the 12" remix of Everything Counts with the powerful synth riffs was a brilliant release and bit of a watermark for the bands transformation in sound...was it Adrian Sherwood responsible for this iirc..?

First band I ever saw live back in the day.
Vince Clarke was a genius.
Rip Andy Fletcher.

Ps just remembered the 12" mix of Just Can't get enough and in particular the brilliant lone synth riff right at the end as it fades, absolute quality.

I love DM but with no disrespect to Fletch, I never fully understood his role in the band. Seems he was their unofficial manager & accountant, and seemed to be the one who kept the band together when Alan departed & Dave & Martin were battling their demons.
He was probably like their Richie from the Manics or Bez from the Mondays in that he didn't contribute massively musically but was part of the band's iconography.
