Devante Cole: "City don't care about English kids"

In fact, the decision to favour Garcia instead of Barker actually vindicates that part of Cole's interview; the Spanish bias.

Or maybe it was a case that Pellegrini wanted to bring Bony off and since we already had two wingers on the pitch he decided he should replace him with someone that plays central?

He sounded like a woman saying that.

I want to leave!
Ok we will sell you.
How dare you try and sell me!

Speaking your mind is great as long as you don't come across as a hypocrite and a crybaby.
curious ...why would you want to sell a woman?

You have to consider the level youth players could reach and the type of player they could become. Big imposing or pacey players will look good at youth level but you have to evaluate what they can become in senior football where those base level attributes will not stand out as much.

It is easy to overlook someone like M Garcia as he is quite a small unimposing figure however if you look at his potential and if you subscribe to the view that he is the most technically gifted player in the EDS squad and could develop in to a Silva type player then you can build a rationale to promote him over a less technical player who is having more impact in youth games. It comes down to having an idea of the players you want to develop.

We are looking for the next Silva, Aguero or Yaya and I personally don’t have a problem with the management showing a preference for kids with massive potential and technical skill over youth players who could arguably have a bigger impact initially but ultimately not reach the highest level.

He played a few cute passes & missed a few easy chances which Barker would score with his eyes shut. Since when do we judge their performances on friendly games pre season rather than the effort they put in all season, over more than one season ? It then follows that apart from those who went on the pre season tour, nobody else has a hope of getting a chance ahead of any of those. And why have we let Evans go out on loan, in that case, seeing as he has produced several excellent performances for the first team & scored goals ?

The players should be judged on their ongoing performances. Kelechi proved himself instantly at EDS level. Garcia hasn't, & should be behind about 6 or 7 players in the queue for a first team opportunity, based on his performance. He has been 'fast tracked' without performing at a level to deserve it.
Have only seen Barker once this season so can't really judge his current form. He has talent and is a prospect but does not look ready yet. Other than Nacho and maybe Roberts, Garcia- despite his current form- is the most likely candidate to become a regular squad member and is probably just ahead of Barker and a few others in the pecking order. I think it boils down to assessing who you believe is capable of becoming a regular and playing first team football 2 or 3 years down the line. I feel Garcia is the more likely to fit that bill. Keep the faith

Reading your point on the matter it's you who seems biased mate.
-Because Barker played well in the past he should be given a debut now? If that is the merit to pick your players, we would be shambles.
-Because Garcia is better in a 5-a-side at training? Just reread this and I hope you see how stupid or childish that sounds.
Pellegrini wasn't picked as our manager to be an old sentimental fool with an obvious weakness to the local lads. My opinion is that Garcia was being picked because at that particular moment Pellegrini thought the team could do with a change and he looked what player or position needed it most. Any other descision you could state the man is not perfect for the job, not at the level we are aiming at. You can state we didn't play our strongest 11, but Pellegrini has a bigger picture to beware of.
Barker, as any other academyproduct that makes it to the senior squad, needs to take the chance and learn as much as possible, not taking anything for granted and prove to the manager either way you are ready to make the step. Barker was great last season, but his development stalled early 2015. Evenso he made the step up to the senior squad as did Garcia who is in fact two years younger.

I haven't read the thread, but I just want to say how delighted I am with the way the club are bringing through the kids at the moment. Massive "well done" to Marwood, Begiristain etc.

Would of liked Barker to come on instead of Garcia but I'm happy that he managed to get a goal on his home debut.

You seem quite agitated about my opinion.

We're talking about an 8 minute sub appearance. I wanted Barker to make his debut, instead of Garcia getting a second cameo appearance. Based on the fact he is yet to make his debut despite having more squad inclusions than Garcia, and doing far more in the EDS than Manu ever has.

Well most likely it vindicates the fact that he has shown more and is better. I'll go so far as to say Barker probably has a bit of the Adam Johnson's about him - brilliant when you see the clips of his goals, but the rest of the time.................................................

Are you Devant in disguise?
Wrong, you clearly aren't up to date with the EDS? Barker was the standout performer for the first 2/3 of last season, Garcia has never been that for the EDS, or even the u18.

It was 8 minutes at 4-1 up, KDB could have gone central, it really didn't matter who came on.
