Devolution For The Regions - Gtr Manchester

Why do we need an underground in the city centre, it’s not that big, nowhere near the size of London, where would it run from that the tram or a bus up and down deansgate can’t get you.

Perhaps it would cater for the outskirts as well as the centre? Don't see how it would be anything other than a positive for the city?

The North has been crying out for substantial, comparative public funding for years, and now that it may be happening people can't get behind it.

Think the idea was you bought ten trips on a card and it worked out that the tenth one was free?
Yeah, pretty sure that's right. Not sure why they were phased out as they were popular, probably deregulation. I do recall word getting round that if you inserted the card very, very slowly into the machine, it didn't clip quite as much as it should so you ended up with another free trip. Marginal gains way before Dave Brailsford came up with it.

I don’t think the city centre is a dump.
Other than Piccadilly Gardens and the route to the Station what’s wrong with it?
The Town Hall area is having a huge refurbishment and will be as good as anywhere when complete and the numerous developments taking place all over make it the opposite of a dump.

Good news.
The rail infrastructure piece from Brum to Manc and Liverpool looks like quite a bit of track straightning will take place. Which is what it should have been in the first place to be honest - especially Stoke to Stafford which is dreadful to be honest.
What rail infrastructure piece from Brum?
