Di Maria

They are 'allowed' to do what they like, within reason

Our assistant manager was walking down Deansgate in a City tracksuit on Derby day, he didn't have any bodyguards. Nor did Dzecko when Mrs Hef saw him out shopping

United are to blame for a lot of things but you can't blame them for an attempted burglary

Do you seriously think Aguero lives in some sort fortress?

i think we (you, me and swp back) are seeing this discussion from the wrong way round. the player lives a normal life as they can i agree, but they do have rules and stipulations attached to the contract they signed. what i am trying to state is that the CLUB has the responsibility to keep that player and their family in a safe environment. they have a responsibility to the player and to the owners of the club to defend their investment.

swp back, you are in the trade so you know that players (esp. the very big names) are given 'guidelines' on where to live and how to live. basically they are told what to do and they, in most part, do it.

it is a fundamental breach of the contract to have a player in an unsecured environment. it doesnt matter if its afghan or ashton, there is a duty of care for all involved to ensure that player is happy and playing football when he is supposed to be.

i also think we are straying away from the main issue here, and that the trafford lot have lost 10mil in part because they didnt secure their investment.

why do you always have to shout down people that have a different opinion than you?
Hi TotallyWeird...thanks for the reply!!!

If you believe I have broken the CoC, then report it.

And there's a big difference between someone having a different opinion and someone stating things as facts that are patently bollocks.

Feel free to hit "ignore" on my username, or continue to follow me around complaining about my posts, I won't lose sleep either way.

Thanks for the input.

They are given guidlelines and they have a full time 'concierge-ish' service with people at the club that help them out with everything from buying houses to getting their dry cleaning done. The club will also help ensure security measures are in place, which from what I've read will have been done. The lad lived in leafy Alderly Edge and his house wasn't actually compromised. Falling short of a mine field in the garden, roving foot patrols and snipers on the roof, I fail to see what more could have been done.

As GDM stated, even the queen had her bedroom broken into once.

I can tell you that no City players have guards sat outside their house and none use security guards to go about their daily business.

No club 'secures their investment' in a way which you think is necessary

They gave him a house in a very nice area, other than putting security guards at every players house, I'm not sure what can be done. Burglars are an unfortunate part of life

the queen had an intruder 30 years ago. yes it was a joke, but the same situation wouldnt happen now, in fact a guy trying to scale the fence would have guards waiting fro him as he climbed down the other side. not because there are now more guards but because the electronic devices these days are so advanced thy can detect faces, objects being left in a position for too long, they can distinguish between a person and a house cat, they can move and follow an object or person automatically and they can relay that information the a central station instantly. you dont need a guard sat outside, just a good anti intruder system.

i dont want to keep debating this too long as i was in a jolly mood when thinking about the loss they have made.

so i will leave you with one thought, if the worst had happened and a serious injury had occurred to di maria, how much invisible cost would the trafford knobs incurred? it would have been a stupendous amount of bad publicity for starters and then the reluctance of any future players to think of signing.....and do you then think this would not have affected our club as well?

in fact is pogba right now thinking of his own security in this city, especially being an ex rag?

For a start United, like every other major club have Key Man insurance for their players. This is underwritten to cover the cost of replacing such a player if their career is ended through off field accidents or injuries.

No, I wouldn't imagine Pogba thinking of that at all. Half a dozen Liverpool and Everton players have had their houses broken into whilst on European duty with their clubs. Shit happens and whilst you think that all clubs should have full time security details on their players abodes, none do, so you may think it's flawed logic, but it's true.

Good grief what a crock of shit, turn the computer off please.

Not entirely true bud, though I agree on earlier points you stated, namely free to do very much what they please, there has been an increase in this area over the last 5/6 years, a very astute fellow saw a gap in the market (:

A great deal of this boils down to the psychology of the player, the very top players are predominantly focused and realise it's a short career, they choose to be 'boring', they don't have to be.

You want a perfect example, see balo, he had a custom built ramp made on his grounds for jumping cars from his scrambler, the man is a fruit loop, though he's not dictated to by any rules. There's also a current city player who has recently become a qualified pilot, hardly the safest past time, if you ask me!!!!
