Type 2 is the one to get you as you get older, although I have read you can get type 1 later in life too.

"older" is a euphemism for fatter.
6 months ago I had type 2. I'm older now but I no longer have type 2.
You can do it @karen7 .I fell off the low sugar diet and have put weight back on around my belly, 3 days into a new detox from sugar and really suffering,i've been a right stupid cow but back in the game now
I'm a veggie and it was a sort of 5:2 that i made up myself,i lost 3 st and got rid of most of my belly fat,i had it down but i am a sucker for chocolate and sweet food by nature and once i tasted some i was off again,so annoyed with myself,my brothers and mum are diabetic now,i am the youngest and trying to head it off,my head is right now and i have about a stone to get off,3 pounds off since sat so on the wayYou can do it @karen7 .
Everyone has their weaknesses. I never thought I'd give up bread but as I've said before, I'd rather have my toes than a butty!
Are you following a specific diet?

Ta,i'll be right, just want this headache to goThis has to be done on YOUR terms Karen, the less pressure you put on yourself the better you will do IMO. There's nothing daft about liking chocolate either :)
I wish I'd stopped carrying on my lifestyle when I was told I had type 2 some 20 years ago. I've gone from diet only to tablets, and now have a small jab of insulin as well - currently 8 units per day, down from 14 in May. Hopefully, this will be a short term measure according to my consultant. You can do it @karen7 .

Since May, I've lost almost 3 stones, and my glucose level is now around 6.0, which they're happy with. I've just started throwing out my old clothes, as they now fit me like a tent, and my waist size has dropped by 4 inches.
The bit in bold is deliberate. I lost my left big toe in July due to a foot ulcer that wouldn't heal, and the one next to it 2 weeks ago. When I get permission from the doctor/podiatrist, I can go back to the gym to try and get fit again, but not at the moment. I'm going to the match on Saturday, and the next 3 as well, the first one since Everton, but I'll take it slowly.
My lifestyle and eating habits haven't changed much - I'm now a lot more sensible in my choices, but I'm still going for a pint tonight - my once a week treat!
