Diarra to Real Madrid

We should not be entering into a bidding war here. The whole situation screams of agents drumming up interest. we will win the money war but its wether Diarra feels he is ready to mix it up with the big boys at the risk of becoming a bench warmer.

If this comes down to a bidding war and we end up winning it against one of the top clubs in Europe it will be making a massive statement intent

"don't getting into a bidding war - you'll lose"

it's putting down a marker

and doing it with Diarra will be a lot cheaper than doing with a megastar player

this is all assuming we get him.

it looks as though he will be speaking to us as well. If he wants to help Portsmouth out then he will be encouraged to sign for us. Can't believe we are fighting over Diarra though.

I think we need to be really aggressive with this. If we scare a few of the big clubs with how far we are prepared to go, it may just put anyone off entering into a bidding war with us in the future. In the long run it may actually work out as cost effective. If we can get to the stage where other clubs back off as soon as they know we are serious, all well and good for City.

exactly do this for Diarra and pay a few million more or do it with Megastar and pay 10's of millions more

Real bid 9m and are now going to 20m? Can't see them giving a part time manager 20m to spend.

Best news I've heard all month.

We don't need Diarra. He's a journeyman already and yet another foreigner who won't play with any passion for City.

If we do bring in foreigners I want it to be superstars.

Not average midfielders who were a key part of a team we stuffed 6-0.

A few million? Diarra is currently a 6-8mil buy... not £20... you'd be expecting a Cambiasso or Mascherano for less than that.

What of, instead of scaring people off we put a "Manchester City premium" on ever palyers head and ever target we have doubles in price.

As soon as ADUG took us over and we became the "new" Chelsea, that was always going to happen. What we have to do now is make it work to our advantage.
