Diarra to Real Madrid

I would be interested to know if we were ever interested! I expect if we had been the deal would have been done weeks ago. I have a funny feeling that interest in Bridge, Diarra and Santa Cruz (possibly SC is the exception) is something we are very happy for everyone to believe but it may not be who we are really looking at.

We have taken us being interested in Diarra as gospel all along even though it was a Daily mail rumour perpetuated along with SC and Bridge.

We may never have even thought about him we may have been looking at De Rossi or Mikel, or De Rossi or Parker or Hargreaves all this time and not even have been after him.

How can a team miss out on a player they have never made any official bid for or said they are after??????

i could see Diarra as an excellent choice for City especially if we keep playing 433.

it is sensible to play two holding mids in a defensive/away 433, right now we have *one* viable defensive mid, and that's Kompany, who might be better used as a center half.

even if there's something to the Cambiasso speculation i think in order to play 2 we need 3; i would be greatly relieved to see TWO decent defensive middies signed as i'm of the opinion that our shitty defending (esp Micah and Dunney) results mostly from a flawed midfield. central middy strenght is absolutely vital in a 433 IMO.

the back line was different for the vintage Ajax teams but it was still a form of 433, and the year they won the champs' cup they had midfield options like Rijkaard, Seedorf and Davids, all of whom had attacking skills but the mentality of pit bulls. Cambiasso and De Rossi are among the players who fit that bill in my eyes, and Diarra's a work in progress but could get there.

For the people stating that Ramos is only there 6 months, the "Coach" does not sign the players in Spain. This is decided and negotiated by the President and his Cronies.

Basically the Coach is given the players and does just that, Coaches what he is given.

yeah don't spanish clubs all have directors of football who do the actual choosing? still, Diarra et al are Ramos' wish list and the mgr's wish list has an effect. i look forward to Ramos flaming out as a result of his attempts to turn Real into a mid table Prem side. Real have always been one of those teams i love to hate anyway, so i am eagerly anticipating hte Ramos era ending in tears.

Looks like a done deal, on sky now, peter storey accepts reals bid £20 mill

Lassana Diarra is angry with Portsmouth after delaying an agreement with Real Madrid.

AS says Manchester City are still in the frame for Diarra after Pompey had accepted an £18 million offer from Real.

Such was Real's confidence that they organised two flight tickets for Diarra to travel to Madrid last night, but that was blocked by Pompey in a dramatic afternoon.

Upon learning of Real's bid, a City representative, who had been negotiating with Pompey for over two months, immediately was on the phone to slap in an improved offer of £22 million.

After receiving the bid, Pompey immediately called Diarra and ordered him back to training. A fuming Diarra is understood to have told teammates: "I got it all done with Madrid and now they (Portsmouth) are telling me to wait a little longer!"

Diarra has made it clear to Pompey he wants to move to Madrid. However, sources at Real insist no deal has yet been done.
