First time I saw them was at the Hacienda in 85. They did two gigs that night. I was at the earlier gig which started around 6.50pm as their first two songs were broadcast live at the end of the Oxford Road Show and then they carried on with the rest of the gig. They'd only been on maybe 30 mins and Hooky (I think) said ''I'd rather piss in the Ship Canal than play in front of you all'' and they all downed instruments and fucked off the stage!What I meant was they stormed off without having completed their full set. We had seen the before and every single person in there was fucking raging and booed the cunts. You want our cash, play, then go off and knock fuck out of each other.
Or, knock fuck out of each other, guitars over the head, mic stands in the face, cracked sideways by a flying high hat, whatever, so we can at least enjoy that.
