Did New Order write the most infectious songs ever?

from last year at the old Granada Studios

I went to two of them gigs. Was a little strange knowing Hooky was butchering Blue Monday at exactly the same time, at Castlefield.

In regards to catchyness, they were nowhere near as catchy as either Depeche Mode or Human League.

They were the best , coolest and most cutting edge bank in the world between 1981 and 1989, but Acid House and old age made them increasingly irrelevant. Their peak years were 1985-87.

I've seen them live many many times. The last time was Blackpool a few years ago when I realised I wasn't even enjoying it any more. I hate to see them on the telly now as they are a shell of what they were.

a bit cooler than HSBC and Barclays then?

I think I could probably name 100 bands who wrote more infectious songs than New Order.....and I say that as someone who liked New Order!

Oh I know a lot of bands have written catchy songs. But to me New Order just seemed to do it better than anyone.

Might have to do with the direction they took the music they produced (especially in the 80s) which was more electronic and dance in nature so therefore it was a bit repetitive (not in a bad way though).

Yeh, no argument from me. Good band
