One chance in the last 25 mins......Pellegrini OUT!

You're embarrassing yourself.

Of course I am fella.

Thank fuck That effort got saved or Pellegrini's plan to not try and score again would have been well and truly fucking ruined.

It's basic stuff.

So basic some Bayern players didn't know, large swathes of the media didn't know, City's bench seemingly didn't know.

Lets face it, it was anything but "basic stuff" unless you've got an unhealthy fascination with UEFA's archaic Champions League rules and regulations.

You've got to be kidding me. It's not a complicated rule it's just away goals. It's not unhealthy to know something that could get your club millions of pounds more than if you didn't.

I just don't think Pelle thought about it as he didn't believe we would be in that position.

Not sure about anyone else, but me and the lads were stood there and realised we needed another goal to top the group. We all very quickly agreed (pretty much instantly) that we'd rather consolidate and win the game, taking back the memory of beating Bayern as oppose to pushing for the extra goal and risking drawing the game.

I for one don't give a shit about the extra goal, the memory of that trip and result will be with me forever and that's good enough for me.

My liver on the other hand, is a much bigger concern right now!

If aggregate scores are level, away goals come into play. There's nothing obscure about that and you don't need to have an "unhealthy fascination" with UEFA's CL rules. Crikey, you're such a fucking weapon at times ;)

I was at the game in Munich, and after we scored the 3rd goal, I said to the fans around me we only need 1 more goal to top the group. yet everyone else were sure that it was 2 goals, guess this goes to show that I was right. Therefore if I knew what was needed after we scored the 3rd goal, why didn't the management team knew, they all should read up on the away goals rule, because that is what would have put us top of the group by scoring more goals away from home than Bayern did against us at the Etithad.

At the end of the game I was ecstatic that we won, not disappointed that we didnt get another (and I knew 2-4 would top the group).

To win there is such a big thing, and I would have been totally deflated if we conceded an equaliser.

If they didn't I've no idea but its irrelevant and just makes them as daft as us. Anyway I read an interview with Mueller and he definitely understood, as he should.

-- Thu Dec 12, 2013 9:30 am --

Yes me too ultimately but I hope we've learnt a lesson for the knockout stages!

Haha. I'm genuinely not trying to be a weapon, I just don't think there's much point in pitching up in this thread and being a patronising **** by saying "well I'm just surprised that everybody didn't know already how this works". As I say, if City's bench didn't know, if Bayern's players (at least some of them didn't know), large parts of the world's media didn't know, Blues at the ground didn't know - then I'm sticking with UEFA's CL rules are archaic and it's their fault.

Hell, blaming Platini should be our standard operating procedure for any problems we have in Europe! :)
