Is he fluent enough? I honestly have never heard him speaking english. A leader would have to speak english as fluently as Vinnie or KDB, which I think is one of the reasons Fernandinho and David Silva never became proper leaders in this team.
It's not perfect but pretty fluent. I'd imagine it would only get better with time spent in England.

Last season I really wanted to us to sign him, I do think he is better than what we have, Laporte apart BUT, he does look very ordinary, his lack of pace is glaring and the way we set teams up, I think he would have got destroyed. And at 80m he was ridiculously overpriced.I don't think he has to be honest. Everyone was luke warm about City signing him last season and even though we have struggled defensively, I don't rate him as a world class cenre-back however I do think he is a strong defender who has improved Man Utd defensively and he's also a good captain. I don't think that many people pretend that he's their new Rio Ferdinand who was a player.
Of all the CB's we have been linked with, I feel he is the best option given his age/skillset
